I keep showing up at 8 and 8:30PM for deli cuts and they are closed 30-60 minutes early. The person behind the counter tells me they closed early because they were short staffed. I wish my job let me close early when we're short staffed.
Recently, I showed up just before 8 and the large man with a beard, ponytail, and no beard net or nametag sighed when he saw me before angrily asking what I wanted. I told him my order of cheese before he barked back that he can't do cheese because he's trying to break down his cheese slicer for the night, not unless I'm okay with him using the meat slicer for it, which I was not okay with because of certain food allergies I and my family have. He sighed again and angrily said, "fine, but you'll have to wait while I clean it." I agreed and he then proceeded to clean it before slicing my cheese.
My family and I consistently get this kind of rude behavior from the deli staff and it's completely unwarranted with how friendly we try to be to them, but it seems like any customer is a bother to them. The one exception is a woman who consistently is pleasant and always asks about the favorite part of my day. She's always pleasant and helpful.
Then there is the large woman in the alcohol section who is always quite rude as well and the fact that about half of the cashiers will not greet you or even acknowledge you as they checkout your groceries. Finally, a lot of the food in the store is not rotating properly and I often find expired food and have to sift through stuff to find one that's not expired, their brand of nacho chips for example are almost always poorly rotated with expired bags out.
I don't know what kind of standards Weiss has for hiring but, at least this store seems to go for the laziest and rudest...

Read moreI am reviewing a deli experience only. The situation happened several times therefore I simply won't return. For several years I raved to people about the Weis pizza 🍕 baked to order. The pizzas used to be phenomenal, better than any pizza shop. For months when I have asked to order a pizza I was told no. Reasons were "the deli didn't have staff so it was closing early." "The dough is frozen." "I don't know how to make a pizza." It's like the videos showing what not to do in customer service training of the past. I did get a pizza made last week and I was actually excited. But I didn't look at it before leaving the store. Big mistake. The pizza was not distinguishable from the cardboard box. I try very hard to support local business but it's not possible to buy what is not sold, right? So I shop elsewhere because peacefulness & satisfaction is priceless. I truly hope conditions improve at the Pottsville Weis store, as it is essential for employees and shoppers alike to thrive in a business for overall success. I live 5 minutes away but I...
