Without question, the best Mexican food I've had in Columbus. The ingredients are fresh, the seasoning is authentic, the portions are generous, the prices are low, the small patio has a charming view, and the service is friendly.
This is a relatively new establishment, so you can tell they have a spark of passion in what they do. If this level of quality is maintained, they deserve to have a line out the door every day, and I expect they'll need to raise prices at some point (a ribeye steak covered with shrimp and cheese is only 22.99 and taco Tuesday is 1.99 per taco, the cheapest in town from what I know). The Molcajete (large volcanic bowl pictured) was frankly better than that of most restaurants I've been to in Mexico, and I would insist all you hungry fellas give it a try.
Lastly, I generally feel sluggish and my dear wife says she feels bloated after most Mexican restaurants. This might come down to starchy thickeners used in sauces, such as corn starch in a chori-queso dip. At Herencia Jalisco, we both ate our fill and left feeling content without any of that Thanksgiving dinner effect, which again paints a picture of fresh high quality...
Read moreIn town for work from Chicago so I decided to try this Mexican restaurant after seeing all the great reviews on Google. Unfortunately, I never got to experience their food. Let me explain I get there at 7:06 PM and place my order with the lady behind the bar. 7:32 comes around, going on 30 minutes, no order. Mind you it’s only 3 tacos and a side of rice. So then I asked the lady behind the bar about my order she then tells me “oh they they said in the back the order never went through” very very poor customer service. She needs to be more attentive, and improve at multi tasking… very very disappointed! Got a refund and wasted 30 minutes sitting there...
Read moreMy new favorite Mexican restaurant! The service is quick, accurate and super friendly, with a welcoming atmosphere! The food is delicious, fairly priced, and their salsa is the best! I first visited with a friend, and they had their special Pozole, which was a huge portion of savory, tender pork and hominy in broth. It's the first time I've ever seen it on a menu and first time trying it, and it was delightful. On another visit, my son had the birria tacos, and I had the carnitas, and both were amazing and cooked perfectly. The carnitas portion, like the pozole, was large enough to stretch for 2-3 meals. The caramel flan cheesecake...
