Hometown Arcade — Local services in Norwood

Absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had. I brought my two kids here just to have some fun playing old computer games together — a simple family moment — but the owner’s behavior completely ruined it. He was incredibly rude and disrespectful for no reason at all. I’ve never seen someone treat customers, especially kids, this way. If you care about basic kindness, respect, or just want to enjoy a friendly environment, stay far away from this place. There are plenty of better places to spend your time and money. Update: Hi, Thank you for your message. I completely understand that everyone needs to follow the rules and pay for playing. However, the way the situation was handled was what bothered me the most. I wasn’t trying to play for free — I was just showing one of the kids how to start the game. You could have simply reminded me in a polite and respectful way instead of making me feel like I was doing something wrong on purpose.

I’ve visited many family arcades before and never had an experience where I felt embarrassed in front of my kids. It’s not about the $20 — it’s about how people are treated. I hope in the future you can handle situations like this with a little more understanding and kindness.

Final Update (in response to the owner): Yes, I did play for a short time — I’m not denying that. But the way your staff talked to me was completely unnecessary and disrespectful. I wasn’t trying to sneak in or play for free. You could have simply reminded me politely instead of talking down to me like I was doing something wrong on purpose. Not sure where to start... But hometown arcade is it's an absolute hit.  Had a birthday party for my son and the owners went above and beyond for everything that we needed.  The pizza is ordered locally and just tell them the approximate time that you want it.  You can bring a cooler with ice for your drinks. They'll give you the paper plates and napkins.

Obviously hometown arcade is not simply for birthday parties. This is a gamer's Paradise. Any system you can think of.. they have it.  Feel free to hop on the couch and play the system of your choice whether it's PS5 Wii U, Xbox.  They even have all the Atari with CTR TVs.  And the first part of the arcade you get your typical arcade games. Think of things like The Simpsons , NBA jam even mortal Kombat, and a lot more.  They even have basketball air hockey and a dance dance machine for those interested.  This place is amazing for adults and kids alike.

You can tell that the owners of this establishment really have a love for what they do.  It's not going to be  long before the word gets out and this place becomes constantly busy.... Especially if they end up getting the liquor license.  This place is a Hidden gem that won't be hidden...

Great concept with a slew of brand new pinball machines (these are expensive) but unless youre a local, at no point will it be worth $20 for a day. To top it off, the only workers are children with absolutely no real life experience, so even trying to give 5-10$ to play for an hour was out.

Pretty bad experience overall considering my options were to shell out $20 or leave. Pretty yikes...

Please don't blatantly lie, this is the internet, not a round table with no fact checking. Every free play in new england has 3 times the machines, including pinball, for half the price. I could also list 3 others just to prove the point. The fact remains that having no middle ground is very literally turning away business. Nostalgia only lasts so long, a lot of us have been emulating everything for 20-30 years, and we dont all have kids to drag around.

I wonder, to date, how many people have been flat out turned away because it isnt justifiable for 3 people to spend $60 if they only have 30-60 mins. Not to mention the complete and total lack of local foot traffic on any regular basis.
