When I first discovered The Unknown Marketplace, formally known as Out Of The Closet, I was fascinated. The place has changed a lot over the years - new vendors and new items. I have always had a positive experience here, prices are reasonable and the store is organized and curated so there is something for everyone. However, I was disappointed on my last visit. The front hallway that connects Shiplap and Chandeliers to The Unknown Marketplace formerly lead to a beautiful room filled with crystals and jazz music and books.. The room is now very dark and filled with old furniture, it does not have the same energy it used to. I was very disappointed to see this change as the decor and ambiance of the marketplace is what made it most special. Other than that as always itās a great shoppe.. Definitely worth the visit if you like antiques and nick nacks and vintage fashion...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's a little bit hard to find, but that's what makes it a hidden gem. Drive to the end of Endicott Street in Norwood and you'll see a giant Uncle Sam mural. This is the building where the shop is located (it's about 5 stairs to get to the shop, but there's also an elevator). Parking can be tough unless you know the secret! When you first drive into the lot, you can see parking off to the right behind some little buildings. This parking lot is actually super close to the entrance! Inside you'll find a magical shop that seems to go on forever. Every space belongs to a different vendor, so every space has its own theme and vibe. You can find everything from books to crystals to clothes to records to furniture. They also have a DIY section and a huge table for classes. 10/10 must visit if you're in the area. Only 45 minutes from Boston...

Almost like a "food hall", where you can visit one location and sample the wares of dozens of vendors, Out of The Closet houses multiple boutique "micro-stores" under one roof. My wife (an avid book reader) told me to stop by Out of The Closet while seeking something unique for her birthday. The "Bougie Bookstore" shop was adorable, and offered a curated gifting experience that you might find on Etsyābut in real life, with a tangible item I could hold before I purchased it. What a novel concept: both the idea of in-person shopping and Out of The Closetā10/10 would recommend...
