My Cancellation Letter: Everything was great with the facility. But ⅘ stars, because of this corporation's dumb cancellation policies…enjoy.

Dear Planet Fitness-Waianae,

I wrote you this letter, since you insisted. I hope it finds you well, so I don’t have to mail another one. I didn’t know people still mailed things. I thought the mail was just for amazon packages, junk mail, and identification documents. But I guess they have other stuff too. It’s been a long time. I know that we haven’t seen each other for a couple of months. I’ve moved back to NC, so I think we should call it quits. Our relationship was decent while it lasted. But I like powerlifting movements, and for that I need a barbell. Also, there were like 30 treadmills, and often only 2 of them were being used. I frequently had to wait for lifting equipment. Maybe I should have been more patient, but I feel like we weren’t meant for each other. I wanted to do this in person. While I wish I could say that I didn’t, because I couldn’t stand to see the hurt on your face. But really, I just forgot before I flew out. Also, I thought breaking it off would be easier, logistically. I still have the personalized app on my phone that you gave me. Remember? It’s the one that creates personalized QR codes, so that you would know exactly when and how often I was entering you. I remember how proud you were that you were such a futuristic thinker; open minded. Sometimes, you would even let me bring a friend. That was always fun. Why can’t this app cancel memberships? It’s set up to my personal cellphone, so it’s not an identity/security issue. I’ve had other relationships where I could cancel by app, phone, or email. I thought we were going to have more fun, like Netflix and Chill. But this cancellation process is more like Planet Fitness and Waste My Time(my time is very valuable, which is why writing this letter is additionally frustrating) DO YOU THINK I HAVE A PRINTER, ENVELOPES, AND FOREVER STAMPS JUST WAITING AT MY HOUSE???!!! IT’S 2022!!! DO YOU THINK I HAVE 15 MINUTES TO THROW DOWN THE TOILET???!!! I actually do have all that, but that’s besides the point. I’m sorry that I got angry. I’ll try to say it like the couple’s therapist said. I FEEL very angry, because I find it to be incomprehensibly asinine that I have to communicate via snail mail to you. Especially when you are 4,800 miles away with an ocean in between. Why don’t I just fly you a messenger pigeon? It’s obvious that you cared more about keeping the relationship going for my money, instead of thinking about my convenience. I think that’s where we fell apart. Relationships are about communication, adaptability, and meeting each other halfway. I wish I could say that it’s not you, it’s me. But it’s you. And the whole long distance thing never works. I’ll think about you when I look at my Planet Fitness app, until I get some confirmation that this is all over. Mahalo to all the workers there at the Wai'anae Planet Fitness for always keeping the gym clean and stocked with what we need. They are the first people you see when you walk in and they are always so friendly and welcoming. It starts off my gym experience with a smile and I really appreciate that. Planet Fitness Wai'anae is a great gym to use because there are so many equipment options. I can always mix and match my routine and still have an opportunity to use so many different exercise options. The equipment are in good working conditions, and the gym is not too crowded, so even if I don't have a lot of time to workout, I can still make great use of my visit there. In fact, even when the gym is a little crowded, the people there have a great gym etiquette (with reminders posted that this is a judge free zone! Mahalo Planet Fitness!) and most times it's not a very long wait to use a particular machine. I actually feel confident in this gym facility, and know the staff are doing their best to provide us a safe and healthy environment. There was actually an incident at the gym once where lockers were being broken into. The staff were notified, and very soon after, I heard that problem was taken care of, very professionally. I haven't seen that problem since, and my belongings are safe. So far, in my time at this gym, it feels like a great place to be for people that are trying to make healthy changes to...

Absolutely love this gym! At first I was mad that they took over a portion of the local hardware store during construction. But after I actually went in, I was so amazed and pleased. I thought it was just a "circuit type" gym I've seen before, but this place is so much more.

I love how all types, all ages, all fitness levels can find a home at this gym. It is a super positive place and even very healing with the hydrobeds and massage chair options. The staff are amazing, friendly and supportive. They are the absolute best.

This gym is a wonderful part of my life and I have learned a lesson not to judge too quickly. Besides, the hardware store streamlined and actually, in my opinion, became a better store.
