Wonderful selection of Samoan food. At least 15 different entres when we went today. In the starch bar, steamed fa’i, fa’alifo fa’i, baked fa’i, taro, fa’alifo taro, tapioca, bright purple fa’alifo sweet potato, and once in a while if you are lucky they even have breadfruit. I dont remember seeing any rice.
In the cold case: oka, about 3 types of poke. I wouldn’t recommend anything here as it is made with previously frozen fish.
In the hot case: palusami, corned beef and cabbage, lamb and baby bok choy, beef and vegetables, chop suey, small fish in coconut, fish steaks in coconut, squid in coconut, fish steaks in gravy, bangers in gravy, lamb in gravy, roast pig, and a bunch of other entres whose names I forgot. From 5.99 per pound to $7.99 per pound. You can feed a family of 8 Samoans for about $100.
Up at the front counter they have koko samoa outrageously priced at $12 per cone, and samoan bread, panipopo, supo esi (like a samoan pudding with papaya, tapioca and coconut.) They also have banana esi, masi, and pai fala (half moon pineapple filled pies).
On Sunday if you’re getting food for your after-church tona’i, best get there at 9am to 9:30am. You cannot call ahead to order or to...
Read moreThis Polynesian store had a full spread for hot foods. Excited to try. Parking is only 2 spots. When you first enter it’s very tight inside. Right in front of you is the hot foods. To the right cashier. No welcome. Looking for someone to help me and two minutes later a samoan lady walks out from the back and starts talking to another gentleman in samoan about a bag of taro. Then looked at me as if I ruined her break. If looks could kill I would’ve been dead 200 times over. So madusa helped me. I got chicken chop suey, It was good. I also got taro with coconut milk, it was perfect. The taro was 4 pieces for 8.49. The chop suey for a small cup was 15 dollars???? Not worth it!!! Customer service TERRIBLE!! Tammy can...
Read moreI have to say this place has come a long way. The store is old, but it is much cleaner then before. The presentation of their food has gotten WAY better. If you are looking for Samoan/Tongan Polynesian hot foods. This is the place to go. (Taro, Banana, Sapasui, Pilikaki, PaPa, and more) A bit expensive, because they do weigh your food, but it is good. Samoan canned goods. (corned beef/wahoo) this is your place.
The service there, needs a bit of work. I understand the ladies there don't speak English (cashier's). However, a smile and at least Thank you would be good.. I would say this place...
