Absolutely do not recommend this facility (or any Rush facility for that matter). After having GI issues for over a year, I was referred by my PCP (also through Rush, also do not recommend) to see a GI. I waited over 6 months for an appointment (was told I was on a cancellation list for ALL Rush GI doctors in all locations, never got a notification over those 6 months - so I don’t believe they actually had me on the waiting list). In between the time I made the appointment and my actual appointment, my mother was unfortunately diagnosed with colon cancer, which obviously put this in a whole different light for me. Come time for my appointment, my doctor, Dr. Mark T. DeMeo, was completely unhinged and unprofessional. While the whole appointment was terrible and not at all helpful, some of the key moments were: he pulled up YouTube to show me a video of the Squatty Potty commercial; accused me of being ignorant for saying that my mother’s colon cancer is likely not genetic (while I know there’s no way to be sure, I was told by her doctors it was not genetic, and I had also gotten genetic testing done just in case, and was confirmed to not carry a gene to make me more susceptible to colon cancer); repeatedly referred to another patient of his as “oriental” (and then proceeded to say “I know I’m not supposed to say that word anymore, but I’m not sure what else to call them” - I don’t even have words for how awful that is); and before leaving, told me he thought I had POTS because I was having GI issues and was flexible (asked if I was double jointed, showed him that I was, then proceeded to say “Ew”) - but didn’t actually elaborate on the POTS thing, just threw it out there. I was referred to get an abdominal x-ray, but then told that the x-ray tech had just left for the day. While that part isn’t their fault, I can’t help but think that if he had just addressed my issues instead of messing around with YouTube and random diagnoses that maybe I could’ve just gotten the x-rays done, especially after waiting half a year for the appointment. After finally getting the x-rays done (this facility was not near my home, nor is any Rush facility that does x-rays), I waited for someone to reach out and explain the results to me. While the x-ray tech made some notes, I expected someone from the GI team to reach out. I waited and waited, until finally I was the one to reach out and ask for someone from his office to explain the results to me in layman's terms. I wasn’t really given an explanation (this also was done via MyChart messaging, couldn’t even get a phone call), but was explicitly prescribed ONLY the prep for a colonoscopy - no colonoscopy. I can’t make sense of why they wouldn’t just do the whole procedure, but obviously they were not going to help me or care about finding out what was wrong, so I found a new GI through a more reputable hospital group. She could not believe that they hadn’t done any testing on me, and promptly ordered no less than 3 tests immediately to try and get to the cause of my issues. Due to issues with my PCP (at Rush Lakeview, also horrible), one of the tests has had to be rescheduled multiple times. Bottom line, do not seek any care from Rush, and especially not Dr....
Read moreI almost don't want to give a good review because I want Rush Oak Brook to be a well-kept secret! But I have to give huge kudos because for such a large operation, Rush is clearly doing something really well here.
I've been coming here since they opened and have never, EVER had a bad experience. I had one marginal experience with a registrar who is obviously not a people person. However, I've interacted with her several times since and think that it's just her personality. She gets her job done and that's all I care about. I don't need warm and fuzzy if I get what I'm paying for.
I had such a great experience with a specialist, Dr. Brincat, that I decided to change all my doctors to Rush Oak Brook at in April. I see Dr. Parrella [bariatric], Dr. Han [PCP], and Dr. Brincat [urogyne]. They must have gone to the same bedside manner school because they are all AMAZING. They clearly care about their patients and give you the time you need.
I've had 2 lab draws done and was surprised at how fast and seamless it was. I've had the very unpleasant experience of dealing with [DuPage Medical] doctors who send patients to LabCorp in Hinsdale [HORRIBLE] so this was such a welcomed change.
Especially important is the support staff [general office, billing, med techs, etc.]. The registrars and med techs are very friendly, professional and clearly enjoy their jobs. This is quite unique since I've often been to good doctors with horrible support staff and I've been to bad doctors with great support staff. As a corporate trainer, I attribute Rush Oak Brook's well-run office processes and quality staff interaction to top-notch training.
Unfortunately I had to go downtown to see my Orthopedic doc [the Midwest Ortho at Rush at the Oak Brook Rush is not the same as the REAL Rush Ortho group at the main hospital on Harrison] and I'll have to endure being down there for surgery. It is important to note that, Rush Oak Brook is NOTHING like being at the main hospital campus in the city where everyone except the individual physician offices specialize in rudeness.
Rush: open a surgery center in Rush Oak Brook and the world will be a...
Read moreThis office Staff is very lazy and don’t want to do their job and makes the patients jump threw hoops to be seen for follow ups that they have seen me before I was told I have to do their job call the main rush to get a order for a procedure that Oakbrook did in June. Neither less Rush is rush I called main hospital and they stated that I didn’t need any orders because this is a procedure I get every ninety days. I was recommended to go there from the main hospital because this was close to my house. I will never come back to this place it can be cleaned and neat but when you have lazy people that just don’t want to do the work but get paid and didn’t realize they taking care of me in June and now sending me threw the run arounds and this is rush should all be the same all they need to do is read what they did and review their policy they know this is something I get every 90 days . It don’t matter what it is this is not okay. I do not recommend this location it’s about the money not your health seems like they just want the paycheck but don’t wanna do the work without being told too. LAZY LOCATION should be...
