The food was good, the server was polite and accommodating of our needs. We were a group of six women who went to college together, meeting up for a semi-regular lunch date to catch up and stay in contact. Our alma mater is a Catholic college, so we were out of touch with the fact that today was the last day of Ramadan and that large groups of Muslims would be going out to eat. We mentioned to our server that the noise level was very uncomfortable, and she responded that the restaurant was crowded because of the holiday. Yes, it was very crowded for a Tuesday lunch! However, that did not explain the noise level entirely, because when the large group next to us finished their meal and left, we still had trouble conversing among the six of us seated in a booth together. Pretty cozy, but none of us could hear any of the others but the person right next to us.
We were seated in the south dining area. The restrooms are at the other end, through the north dining area, which is noticeably quieter, perhaps due to more floor area covered with carpet and fewer large windows.
We decided to talk to the manager after we paid our bill. He again gave the answer that the restaurant was crowded due to Ramadan. I suggested that what was needed was more sound-absorbing material in the room such as padded booths, thicker carpeting, draperies, wall hangings, etc. He said he didn't know what he could do about the noise. I said that I had just told him what I thought would alleviate the problem, and he said, "I couldn't hear you." Yes, he actually said he couldn't hear me!! I repeated myself, and he said that was decorating and he didn't have anything to do with it. I said he should contact the owners and tell them that the customers requested this. "Well, that's corporate and I don't have anything to say about that. If I told them that a party of six were not coming back because they were unhappy with the noise, it wouldn't change anything."
So in spite of the quality of the food and table service, our group will not be going back to the Oakbrook Egg Harbor Cafe. We could not enjoy our gathering because of the extremely loud atmosphere, and we were not treated with respect by...
Read moreThe place is very nice. The host guy/barista was super nice, but he had a lot of cologne on... like a lot. I felt sick to my stomach when he walked past me. It was intense. The server was nice enough and was detailed describing the menu items. But disappeared after she brought our order. She returned with the bill later.
My husband did not like the banana bread French toast/skillet combo. He said the banana bread French toast was just banana bread with bananas on it. There was nothing making it French toast. It wasn't dipped in egg and cooked. It was just a slice of banana bread. And he felt it was overly sweet. He did like the little bowl of fruit, however. And he did enjoy the very small bowl of skillet. I had some chicken rice soup, it tasted like premade rehydrated soup. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't taste from scratch. The chili was not good. Swedish pancakes were good, but I've had better. They came with lingonberry butter and lingonberries on the side. None of the breakfast dishes we had came with bacon or sausage. I felt the dishes were expensive for what they gave us. I had a cappuccino, which was good, but there was barely any foam. It was just liquid. I've had some amazing cappuccinos, so I was not impressed with this one. We ordered the bourbon maple bacon, and I thought it was delicious. It kinda had the texture of jerky, though. Reminded me of a brown sugar ham I had at someone's Christmas dinner once. My husband couldn't get over the chewy texture or syrupy sweetness of the bacon. He likes bacon to taste like bacon, so I guess it's not for everyone. One thing I did like about this place was that it had soothing music and it wasn't too...

When you roll into a breakfast joint at 10AM and the place is buzzin’ like a coffee-fueled PTA meeting, you know you’ve wandered into something good. Despite the bustle, I was seated faster than you can say “I’ll take mine over medium.”
👩🌾 Kara = Sunshine in Human Form My server Kara deserves a shoutout and possibly a parade. She was kind, helpful, and glowed with the kind of energy that makes you wonder if she secretly lives inside a cereal box labeled “Optimism O’s.”
🍽️ The Geneva Rosti (aka: Mid-Morning Royalty) Kara recommended the Geneva Rosti, and wow—this thing was like a warm hug in casserole form.
• Shredded potatoes • Bacon • Onion • Two eggs • Jack & Cheddar cheese • Crowned with sour cream and green onion
Plus a buttered English muffin with their signature jam (which might just have been crafted by woodland elves), and some fresh fruit to keep things classy. The whole plate had fresh written all over it, and the portion was generous without flirting with food coma territory.
🏡 Vibes & Decor Egg Harbor rocks a bright farm kitchen aesthetic that could charm even the grumpiest rooster. Staff were genuinely friendly, not just the “I’ve had 16 hours of corporate training” kind. It’s the kind of place you’d happily return to—even if only to chase that English muffin jam again.
🥚 Final Verdict Egg Harbor is the type of place where breakfast feels like an experience and kindness is clearly baked into the service. Will I return? Absolutely. Kara, keep doing the Lord’s work one muffin at a...
