Extremely overpriced Was given a price of $2100.00 for front end work (both sides) and 2 front tires. Went to another local shop that has an excellent reputation. The car only needed work on one side not both. And 3 tires were shot and needed replacing. Not just 2. The cost at the second shop was over $1000.00 less. And for the age and condition of the car. Seems like a more reasonable price. Iâd understand if the costs were closer. But over a $1000 difference is extreme. I also almost took the car to the junkyard after Pettyâs evaluation. Fortunately I got a second opinion. And didnât junk a car that still had a little bit of life in it. Their advice had real potential to negatively impact my sonâs finances (owner of the car) over a long term if the car had been junked and another car would have to be bought. The $250 fee for diagnosing is also extremely excessive. And as they completely missed a rear tire that had the cord hanging out of it, doesnât seem as comprehensive as they claim. The diagnostic work, which the customer is charged for. (A diagnosis fee is acceptable, but this one is extremely overpriced) itâs used as a tool to tell the customers about addition repairs in an effort to separate customers from more of their money. In this case, two of the âurgentâ repairs werenât needed at all apparently. One side of the front end and wipers. Oddly enough the wipers they said were bad, were in fact only a month old and good quality RainX wipers. I heard very good things about Petty prior to bringing our families cars in. Unfortunately the hype didnât match the outcome Extremely extremely disappointing Addendum: Mr Petty, I expected nothing less than you defending your business. In your position I would do the same. I stand by my review. I never returned your call (you only called once) as it would solve nothing. Neither you or I need to waste our time like that. I understand what you paperwork may say. But, verbally. per your advisor, the windshield wipers were âurgentâ and only two tires required replacing. I personally have 20 years experience as an operator of the Ford Lincoln Mercury platform. I am fully aware of its strengths and weaknesses. Airbag light.. itâs a sensor and the airbag will still function. A crack in a lense thatâs otherwise completely intact is not a violation of NJ motor vehicle code, and not urgent. The windshield wiper are new and youâre way off base insinuating they are not. I stand by...
Read moreI have been using Pettyâs as my primary car care for at least three years. Yes I have cheated on them a few times when I was in a pinch with time constraints haha. These guys break down everything great, good, average, not so good, and bad. There is no work suggested to be done to the car that doesnât need it. And, things that need to be done rather sooner than later, they will work with you with scheduling that. They donât try to convince you to do it right now since your car is there already being serviced. It is rare that garages, car servicing companies, and your hometown mechanic always dot their iâs and cross their tâs. Pettyâs really does. They know what they are talking about too, yeah, they are completely educated. If you use a chain like Mavis, Midas, or any popular car service, youâre bill will probably be a little less. However, youâre car was probably sped through and you probably paid for a service you were told was extremely imperative right now. But, it really wasnât. The father and son will take the time to explain everything and present the best solutions and also other alternatives. Even when they are super busy, you get a 100% attention, respect, and professionalism. I have only really dealt with both Toms. Thanks. I wrote a book sorry! Details matter! ...
Read moreUnfair pricing. I had my vehicle towed to this shop because AAA insisted this was the closest repair shop to tow my vehicle. I spoke to Tommy who said he would do a âcomplimentary inspectionâ on the vehicle before proceeding. This was not the case because I never received a call from anyone. Tommy proceeded to diagnose the issue. The issue was that my alternator was shot and I was informed it would cost around $960 because of rust underneath the vehicle. I work at a car dealership and have a ballpark idea of what repairs cost. After informing Tommy the repair should be between 450-550 he did not want to lower his price at all. I ended up having to pay the shop $50 for the diagnosis plus 200 to tow it to my local repair shop. Which by the way charged me under $400 for the new alternator installed. This was a major inconvenience for me to go through all this. If they offered fair pricing from the start I wouldnât be writing this review right now. Donât let them take advantage and check...
