I truly enjoy the YMCA Zumba classes. I like the Dancing ones with instructor Angela. her songs are fast and she makes you work . when you leave her class you feel like you have run a mile and half. I cant do the Zumba strong with Erica it is to much for me. My fitness level is still not that high due to my job. I cant always go to the regular Zumba classes. But when I do get to attend Angela is my favorite instructor. Erica is a very good instructor, but it's just is to intense for me although I have gone to many of her classes and have enjoyed them. There is another instructor that was on leave when I started attending Zumba her name is Lydia. I have gone to some of her classes and have not walked out because I did not want to be rude. One particular Saturday I attended she would sit down after every song to rest and even motioned to a lady in the class to continue song. of course she did not, she was there to participate in the class not do it for her. She took many breaks in that one hour. sat and talked and after the hour she said she was continuing the class for an additional 15 mins, so we could get a full hour of exercise. I left and so did several people, I myself did not even break out into a sweat or anywhere near that. That day was a total waste of my time. I went to reception and told staff I was very unhappy and that I would like to speak to person in charge. I was advised she was not in and I would be contacted. I did receive a call but I was unable to answer. and due to my job, I'm out of town the majority of the time and can not always sit and talk. so I decided to come one here and voice my concerns. I can not post a review on the rest of the programs the YMCA offers since I do not partake in them. MY...
Read moreMy daughter has been in the YMCA sports when she was about 3 . We started off with soccer for 2 years she didn’t like it . Then we got in to tball and this year coach pitch . She loved both . For all four years it’s been horrible! I want to make parents aware when you sign your child up for sports they don’t have a coach for your child’s team . Instead they pressure one of the parents to step up to coach and if you can’t get a coach they refund you partial because of the jersey. Also they don’t have a set practice place for there sports . This year has been absolute hell ! Terrible communication with our coach who’s a parent. The coach also struggled with communication with the sports coordinator so we would get late responses majority of the time . Today I went to pick up my daughter’s medal and it wasn’t ready . We had our last game last week ! They are rude as well ! I took my 2 daughters age 4&7 to the restroom before we left and they sent a young lady and told us to hurry up because they needed the restroom for some camp . They had the young lady go in the restroom again pressuring us to hurry up . My children and I felt so uncomfortable. We were in the restroom maybe a little over 5 minutes! All 3 us had to use it I thought we were pretty quick about it . Very rude y’all should have just closed the restrooms instead of running off a mother and...
Read moreNot a good experience here. We moved here from out of state and this is the worst YMCA I've ever seen. Rowdy kids hang out at the front using inappropriate language and I always feel very uncomfortable when I have to walk through the doors to bring my child to basketball practice. Last night a teenage girl (approximately 12 or 13 years old) was straddling a boy while he was sitting in a chair and being extremely sexual in the corridor while children and parents were walking out from youth basketball games. Similar behavior happens pretty much every time we come here to this place. It is not welcoming to outsiders who are not from Odessa. Pretty disappointing because we heard Odessa was a great place to have kids for sports. The basketball program is also very unusual. Being a coach myself, I have been disappointed to see the way my child has been treated by other players and no one says or does anything to correct behavior. I have heard the same few individuals coach and I guess it's sad for some of these kids who could really benefit from learning the fundamentals and mechanics at an early age. Hopefully someone will get a better handle on this place and turn it into an upstanding place that everyone in the community could...
