Dollar General — Local services in Oelwein

A "DEFINITE IMPROVEMENT" since the newest, well-seasoned, courteous and respectful Manager, Nick, came on board. He came in like a positive, driven whirlwind, to bring this DG location up to the standard of the company. BUT, I believe that he and his current staff go ABOVE AND BEYOND the company requirements. The only drawback or negative that I can come up with is actually NOT the fault or decision of the local staff, but the Corporate heads who usually do not live in the real world. LOCATION- is good, but they deseperately NEED A NEWER AND LARGER BUILDING!!! (A fifth star will be given when Corporate greenlight's a bigger and better location)

In my humble opinion, I believe that profits would soar if they had more room to deal with. There is more competition in town now, however, there are lcertain things that you can only find at Dollar General. Perhaps if a local petition was started and then forwarded to the Corporate offices, they would reconsider the much needed expansion.

Anyway, I enjoy going to DG now, because I am able to get down an aisle without 10 boxes blocking my path. The products are always lined and organized so neatly, (until there is the self-absorbed and disrespectful customer who picks something up and decides they don't want it and are too lazy to walk back and put it where it belongs or allows their kids to run through and knock everything down).

If you haven't visited the Oelwein Dollar General for a long time, maybe think about giving it another go around. It is much better and I feel they actually care and take pride in their job. Way to go, Manager Nick! Miracles...

I just wanted to say thanks so much to the Manager at this Location, Her name is Amy. She had seen my co-worker and I putting a care packages together for my little brother that is in Kuwait right now. She decided to pay for all of the items which was two flat rate boxes full of goody's and it was a little over 65 bucks worth of stuff before she even knew how much it would have been. She deserves a very special thanks and this is what I love and fight for this country is people like her. People have no idea how awesome it is to get care packages and this lady truly understands. This is the messiest dollar general I’ve seen the isle are always packed full of boxes and stuff is always a mess and on the floors. Some isle will be so packed with boxes you can’t even get down them. There always seems to be workers just walking around the stores rather than putting things away. I’ve had to move carts to get to something that I’ve needed. It coulda really use some...
