Pizza Ranch — Restaurant in Oelwein

This is the BEST Pizza Ranch our family has visited, and we’ve been to plenty, even in several different states. The first clue to how awesome they were was the fact that they had several fresh pizzas on the buffet line moments before it closed. I love that they kept it fresh and stocked even in anticipation of closing it down. Our family of six came in about 13 minutes after the buffet had closed. We didn’t realize it, and they never made us feel bad about it. They only mentioned it in order to tell us that it was technically closed, so if there was a pizza we wanted and didn’t see, just let them know and they would make it for us. We mentioned wanting to watch the Field of Dreams MLB baseball game on TV, and she went over and above to find it on TV for us and turn it up so we could hear. The serving team didn’t clean up the salad bar until they were sure we were done. Next, she asked if we wanted any special dessert and put it a chocolate cookie for us and told us to make sure and get some ice cream, too. My kids were so happy! The service and the clean environment, including the bathrooms, and the yummy food made this a great experience for us! Thanks, Oelwein...

My husband and I stopped at this pizza ranch today while traveling through the town and we received very poor service. We stopped in around 1:15 on a Saturday, so we figured it would be a fairly busy time for the restaurant. However, the place was nearly empty and either no one was staffed or no employees wanted to be up front with customers. The building was filthy, the food was nearly cold, and the service was horrible. We left our tables to go up for a second plate and came back to see that our whole table had been cleared (which was unprofessional considering there were maybe 8 customers in the building so the employee should have checked to see if we actually left before clearing our table). When my husband went up to the counter to ask for two new cups I watched two employees walk right by him with empty hands and it took at least five minutes for someone to come OUT OF THE BACK to help him. Just ok...again another rude employee...the first time we ordered a pizza for there and got our drinks and table and waited. They had it boxed up for some reason and the gal just literally threw it on our table and walked right off like she didn't give a heck. It was very rude....this last time the gal that took our order (which was buffet for 2 adults and one child ) acted all huffy and then gave us only 2 glasses for our drinks and when asked for another glass for our grandchild she was like uggghhh yeah I guess and handed me one. The floors have been filthy everytime we have gown. And they weren't coming by to clear plates as...
