Hacienda Del Rio — Restaurant in Oelwein

The service is always great! Chips & salsa are probably my favorite items from the menu. Chips & salsa might seem basic to some & it is but if it isn't done right it is No bueno! Fresh chips & home grown salsa... yes please! I've eaten both lunch & dinner here. The menu is large & diverse so I try to order something I haven't tried before. My son, can at times, ok pretty much all the time, be a picky eater. Our server worked with us & ended up making an item for my son to eat that was not on the menu! Over & above on that one! There was a birthday I celebrated at Hacienda Del Rio... Ordering a Margarita the size of a punch bowl big enough to serve drinks to a 100 people! No no no I'm kidding not that big but the Margarita is big! Just as big... Was my headache the next day. Note to self... Tacos are my friend! Thank You Hacienda Del Rio! 3-12-24 We went there for our anniversary dinner and left very disappointed and a little angry. They've moved across the street into a different building and the atmosphere is about the same. The food was delicious. The service was so lacking. Our waitress was indifferent at best about us at best. Our food order was a solid 30 minute wait and when it was brought out, it was wrong. Not that we could tell her because she didn't bring the food out. In fact, we ate and waited for her, finally asking someone bussing tables to go get her. When she came out, she had this attitude of "whatever". We just wanted fried ice cream, which took another 20 minutes (not busy at this point). We ate and finally just went up to the cash register to pay because she never brought us a bill. We were very disappointed that we went here for our anniversary and it's doubtful we'll be returning. Got here at 4:45pm to wait 10 minutes to be seated in an empty restaurant then we were seated after ordering we had 5 things of chips 2 lg queso while waiting for our food because we waited till 5:45pm to get our food. then after we confronted our waiter for our ridiculous wait time he then argued with us saying we were here only for 17 minutes. we were seated before my child's teacher and she had her food ate and was gone before we even got our food.
