Meiners Oaks Hardware — Local services in Ojai

I shop here often and it's an excellent hardware store with great customer service, and I wanted to note a recent above-and-beyond customer service experience.

I purchased a lawnmower from Ace, the expert there took 30 minutes to walk me through the product options and then helped me load it into my car, couldn't have been more helpful (wish I could remember his name). Once I got home and got the product out of the box, it was smashed in several places (not apparent until opening - the box was in fine shape, this damage had clearly occurred before packing).

I took it back and the manager apologized profusely, helped me unload it, inspected it, agreed re the damage and offered a refund or exchange without any haggling or me needing to be pushy. In addition that, he offered free delivery of the replacement (since it wouldn't arrive for a few days). The replacement lawnmower works great, but the key bit here is that this is exactly why (beyond it being better for the community) it makes sense to shop local (when you have a good store like Ace) - when something breaks, and stuff always breaks, you have someone to work with to fix the problem who can look you in the eye and make things right. Best Hardware store in the entire Ventura area. Not just in Ojai. I'm a general contractor and really know who has what I use and need and Meiners Oaks Ace Hardware is the place. The entire crew is professional and very helpful. They all know what to ask you so as to help and then find what you want. And quickly without hesitation. Everyone is willing to go through the store until they find what it is you need. If it isn't in stock the owners will have it ordered and brought in as quickly as possible. Then they will call you saying that you can come in and pick it up. What I find amazing is that they all do their very best to help. I have been purchasing almost everything from them for 10 years since December of 2008 when moving to Ojai and virtually know everyone who works there. No kidding, they are the best. This ACE is truly the place! The team is always helpful, I rarely have to visit another hardware store. For a seemingly smaller hardware store they really do it all and everyone on staff has the know-how to help find what I need, or they know which other employee to ask.

Speaking of employees, I'd like to give a special shout out to ROBERT! That guy is unbelievable. I swear every time I'm there he's helping 5 people effectively and efficiently. He doesn't just help me find what I need, but he goes above and beyond by asking about the project I am working on and comes up with even better solutions, incredible!!
