Tom Pace’s Actions Hurt My Business and Targeted My Customers
In 2020, Tom Pace—author of Mentor: The Kid & The CEO and CEO of PaceButler Corporation—invited me back into the phone business. As a friend and mentor, I trusted him; our agreements were based on friendship, not formal contracts. By 2023, I had purchased over $700,000 worth of phones, with nearly $200,000—close to 30%—being defective. The failure rate eventually climbed to 40%, crippling my business.
Despite my repeated efforts to resolve the issue, Tom refused to take responsibility, hiding behind invoice terms and dismissing our verbal agreements. Determined to find answers, I traveled to Oklahoma with my wife and children. When it became clear he wouldn’t honor his word, I asked for $5,000 to cover the trip’s expenses. Instead of addressing the situation, he erupted, hurling insults and humiliating me in front of my family.
The ultimate betrayal came when I discovered he had hired my son without my knowledge. After everything he had done to harm me, this felt like a calculated move to undermine me further. It crossed a boundary no parent should...

Their sales rep HOWNDED our small business for MONTHS. We wanted to give them a chance since their sales team was so aggressive. Finally when we were able to send over our iphones they stopped harrassing. We didn't hear back at all during processing after our iphones were recieved and about a week later recieved a check in the mail for $1.00.
If we had sold our iphones independently, market rate is $50-$100 per iphone. One was a brand new iphone 6s never used and another was gently used iphone8. When we asked for our phones back, as the process was not at all transparent. We were offered $33 and told "You are asking the impossible. Its like contacting the garbage person after trash day and asking for your trash back. "
No one even called us to confirm the check amount at processing or if we even wanted to move forward as they were magically only worth $1.00.
Save yourself the hassle and sell the phone independently. And if they harrass your business, block the caller....
Read moreI worked as a consultant for the CEO of PaceButler, Tom Pace. In working with the Tom and the President, Brad Armstrong, I grew to love the culture at PaceButler. The organization is focused around personal development and philanthropy. The "Buy a phone, give a book" model that PaceButler pioneered is impressive and inspiring. The organization gives 1 book to charitable organizations for every phone that is purchased from PaceButler.
Tom and Brad have worked to build a culture that is incredibly people focused. The morning meetings are all about team building and community. The organization compensates their workers for investing in themselves by holding them accountable to read books on personal development as well as physical fitness challenges. The community is something that every company should aspire to have.
Anyone and everyone that is considering working with PaceButler should do so to support the impact that this company is making within their organization as well as within the...
