Was searching for Chinese food near to where a relative lives and thought this sounded promising. As I approached the restaurant, it struck me as suddenly familiar. Nearly 30 years ago, my grandmother lived just a few blocks away and we would often pass this spot. This restaurant has been in the same location since 1971. Fifty years of history. The opulence of red lacquer and the exoticism of the cuisine slightly faded through the decades. The inside of the restaurant does not seem to have been meaningfully updated in that time - which I absolutely loved. It seems as though the recipes have also remained largely unchanged as their preparation of the dishes we tried (egg drop soup, egg rolls, sweet and sour pork, chicken chow mein, and egg foo young) seemed somehow “vintage”. No candy-red sweet and sour sauce, and no overly thickened egg drop soup. Perhaps it was all prepared from scratch. Also, the waitress greeted everyone within earshot of our table by name and left them with a “see you next week”. I think this is a truly special restaurant best appreciated by...
Read moreThis place was highly suggested by several Facebook posters when I asked for recommendations so we tried it.... It was easy to find and, as we were warned, it is a little rough looking on the outside plus; the neighborhood is a little downtrodden however; it seemed safe. We ordered egg rolls because they were highly recommended. My husband & my daughter loved them, but I didn't really care for them however; I'm more of a Spring Roll person....I don't care for a lot of fried dough around egg rolls. My favorite egg rolls are still from "DKone", in Ft. Smith, AR. (They are tight, thin and super crispy with an amazing flavor) Anyway, I did like my hot tea; which was served with lemon slices and our server was a really nice, soft spoken lady that shared the history of the restaurant with us. She was awesome! Hubby & I ordered the dinner for two that includes Chicken Chow Mein, Sweet & Sour Pork, Egg Drop Soup and we ordered the steamed rice. Our daughter had Sweet & Sour Shrimp with fried rice. Everything was very nasty! We look forward to returning and trying other...

Well this is sadly disappointing to see and hear about the complete change Canton has done. This is no longer a Chinese restaurant is it some kind of Cajun seafood place now. This is terribly disappointing!! The new menu is just seafood and chicken strips etc... not even close to Chinese food! Just another place filled will fried stuff you could purchase at a local low end gas station! When they closed for the holiday who knew they'd never be back as the same place???!!! This is sad! Canton has been a staple in my family for years! We won't ever be back to a place like this. Just pure sadness and disappointment!!
Best food ever!! This place is amazing! The food is delicious and the people who work there are friendly!! This is my favorite restaurant and I would eat here every day if I could!! And make sure you add their sweet and sour sauce and hot mustard to the egg rolls! I really cant get enough...
