Update: Welch’s co-owner reached out to make this situation right. He arranged for water mitigation services to come out and hopefully stop whatever water still lived under the wood and control the mold potential. He apologized profusely and is eager to see us whole again. Welch’s refunded us for the machine. We anticipate they will help us get our floors back soon, too!
This is the Welch’s you see in so many good reviews! My incident is an aberration, I believe. I think the other person was just having a very bad day. We are all human.
Holy cow. What a nightmare. We purchased a washer/dryer stack set. I called after a few days to schedule a tech visit as the buttons and knobs weren’t functioning properly. Basically they seemed glitchy—stopped working altogether. But suddenly they started working again so i canceled the technician visit. Didn’t want to waste anyone’s time. Five loads later, the tub fills up and won’t stop. It keeps filling and none of the knobs or buttons would respond to stop the filling. This water overflowed. Standing in water on our new floors, my husband and I pulled the machine out to see the drain was properly connected and so we unplugged the set and turned off our water. All of this tub water poured out into our hallway hardwood floors. We have extensive damage to our hardwoods, our sheetrock, and subfloors.
Welch’s response was a mixed one. At first, the lovely lady answered the phone and gave us a next day technician appointment. The tech called me back with a terrible attitude. She didn’t even express anything resembling sadness for our losses. She reminded me that she told me “very bluntly” that another technician would not be able to come out to help for another week or two, so maybe i shouldn’t cancel my original appointment. I had no idea the machine would over flow from the tub and the machine would fail to respond to anything other than a plug- pulling.
In all of my conversation with this tech, she ignored my concerns & interrupted me. She bullied me and I’m totally shocked. She talked over me. It was odd.
She called me “honey” when i told her that her suggested remedy of bringing us another set to use was not acceptable. I simply want the machine gone and some kind of compensation for all of the damage done to my home. This really feels like grounds for a lawsuit… I’m out the $700 for the machine and likely a total rehab of the laundry room and hallway and hardwood floors. $$$. Tech: “honey, did you read the receipt you signed?” Her tone was humiliating and condescending. & yes, because of this, i lost it and told her eff off. I’m just not one to do this, but goodness, this is nasty. A professional wouldn’t have responded to me in the way she did, but she told me to eff off too and hung up on me. I’m sitting here crying about the damage to my home. I can deal with the loss of my $700 machine. But this is...
Read moreWhat an experience! Came to Welchs to purchase a refrigerator in June. Found one that fit our needs and asked the sale lady if the handle could be switched and she said it could YAY (upcharge). Come delivery day come to find out, it could not. I had to schedule the delivery for when I was at work and my 17 year old child was at home and I had no other choice to accept the delivery and the handle not being able to be switched, inconvenient but my groceries were on the counter and I needed a fridge. Couple months forward and there is water in the bottom of the fridge and I call as it is under warranty and am wanting repair. I am charged $71 for a trip charge. Repair comes out and replaces the fan and problem seems to be fixed. 2 weeks later same issue AGAIN. I call and ask what my options are , she says she can get the repair man out in 2 days and trys to charge me $45 for a trip fee. At no point during any of this was the lady on the phone empathetic to my needs or concerned with the failing product they sold me. We decided to visit the store to see if the had a different refrigerator that may be of better quality and they did not, the lady at the desk was rude and kept repeating "So what do you want me to do" . We decided to go down the road to McKinneys and as soon as we walked in the door we were greeted kindly, shown multiple models in our measurements and price range, scheduled and guaranteed that if a repair was needed that NO trip charge would be applied as it was included in the warranty on all their products sold. When we went to get our refund, Welchs even forgot to call us back to apply refund or to credit back the tax as well. This whole experience has been nothing but a nightmare from start to finish. The customer service was was non existent and will forever deter me from visiting this store or referring anyone there. Word of mouth is your greatest advertisement and I would take note in how you treat your customers that pay you for your service and product.
Response to Amanda: Its not only that the product was subpar, the customer service we received was dismal at best. Each interaction was disrespectful and rude. The one and only sorry we got was the one where you forgot to refund the tax (which I had to call and point out to you the 3rd generation owner) At no time did you offer a refund or trade of product. That was my suggestion as I was frustrated with your failed product and lackluster customer service. Being 3rd generation owner does not impress or say anything to your ability to service this company nor community. Want a better review, than do a better service. Thanks for your reply. BTW not located in Tenino, just another reminder of your...
Read moreBought a Kenmore washer and dryer set for 400.00. Three trips back for repair of which I had to drive each appliances there my self to get everything actually working or be charge a fee. The washer never really sounded quite right and there occasionally was small amounts of water noticed on floor. I chalked it up to older washer not as quiet and maybe the kids were putting wet clothes on the floor since it was intermittent small amounts, like a few ounces here and there. Washer started getting worse. I didn't want a new washer because I don't like the new washers even though I can afford one. warranty was now up. OK I am done with Welch's so lets fix it. I work on cars I could do this myself and read up on repair which is simple enough. I tipped it back and oil was spayed from top of transmission (of which repair forums say this leakage is from water leaking down on it). and turned out noise was transmission straining from what was going on. New transmission is 150.00 used is 75. OK lets rebuild change seal and fill oil myself. As I am taking it apart I find that the top of the washer tub and seal is only half clipped into place (half was left unsealed leaving it able to leak), the bleach dispenser tube was not even connected, and under the agitator it is missing a large plastic washer and metal clip that goes between the agitator and the metal block. it didn't break off or metal clip would still be there. I never used the bleach dispenser but would explain why when anybody else used the washer with bleach I though they spilled it. I am done with Welch's. They use to be good. I had gotten a set from them before that lasted 6 years. My washer was out of it's short warranty and I under stand that. So I called to price parts to fix trying to by pass driving and waiting on shipping. They have no parts in stock. and I let them know why these parts are needed from their error in incorrectly putting is back together. They said a simple oh so sorry but wanted to sell me another for 250 and were willing to take my old washer, at no disposal fee, , fix, and resell. I am guessing they wouldn't even replace the missing washer. I highly recommend Reliable Parts Inc in Tacoma. They have...
