I've eaten a lot of donuts. I've eaten a lot of critically acclaimed donuts. Twisters donuts are as good as a donut can be. I eat one of their maple bars every day and while the maples bars do vary from day to day Twisters makes one of the best maple bars around. Occasionally they make "THE BEST MAPLE BAR I'VE EVER HAD" Today is one of those days and its inspired me to write this review. It was crispy on the outside but it melted in my mouth. The frosting was thick but not overpowering. The bar was thin which allowed it to cook differently than when the bars are a little thicker. I think one of the things that makes their donuts so good is the amount of salt they put in the dough and the frosting. Other donuts aren't as good because they use less salt in the dough. Anyways, If you are still reading this go get some donuts from Twisters. You will only find worse donuts in this town and frankly (while warm donuts are nice) Twisters donuts are better than Krispy Kreme. Krispy Kreme doesn't put enough salt in the dough which makes them taste 1 dimensional, sweet. I will hold all other donuts up to the Twisters standard. shout out to Johns Mountain home bakery who previously had the best donuts back when John used to own it (their pretzel donuts were...
Read moreFirst time visitor with high expectations and happily surprised at the variety of fritters indeed several fruit flavored choices including rhubarb. Granted these were "flavors" with no real solid pieces of fruits like say apple fritter but it was worth at least trying. I looked forward to the cherry fritter, but found not one cherry but instead a light "red" filling. Same was true for the blackberry and lemon. While the cinnamon roll was large and flavorful. Would I return to try the cake doughnuts and other selections ... perhaps if am in the area. Reason for 4-stars is that seemingly the interior and menu have not be changed for decades. The menu is juvenile-looking and difficult to follow. Some charming interior branding upgrades are in order. However, obvious protective steps for COVID are being practiced including distancing marks on ground and being able to drive through which is a plus. Seems the items are made fresh and it smells good upon entering. Although found it odd if I wanted any tamales, which is certainly a dichotomy in a donut shop. And yet, would certainly give service and hospitality 5-stars especially the owner who was most engaging and genial to every customer. Service was fast and friendly. As such recommend give the...
Read moreThis is a great little place to set your troubles aside when your computer and your car both have to go into the shop in the same week!! Friendly staff, hot coffee, sodas, bagels with cream cheese and birthday orders for cake donuts. These nice people make donuts literally 24 hours a day!!! Family-owned and cared for. They get a mad rush in the morning and also in the afternoon when people might need a sugar fix. I have not been into a donut shop in many years and I was so impressed by the wonderful and colorful selection of donuts and bars I truly felt like a little kid again. They even had tiny little cream puffs, jelly filled and custard filled donuts and everything kind you could possibly imagine. They have the largest selection of fritters I have ever seen and here I thought all this time that there was only one kind called: Apple fritters, But I was wrong there are so many more, there were at least 12 different kinds. I was very impressed. There is a kids play area outside, room for parking and some tables outside too. They are ADA compliant and also have a wheelchair ramp at the entrance. Stay for a while and...
