I love Aldi!! Amazing prices, especially on meat, cheese and produce. Healthy items offered through their Fit & Active line, even low carb and gluten free options. Affordable beer and wine, and many European speciality items that often rotate throughout the year. One of my favorite things about Aldi is the small store lets me complete my entire week's shopping in 20 minutes. Unlike the huge supermarkets I don't have to walk a city block if I forgot to pick up something on the other side of the store!
Some important tips of it's your first visit : They do not pay lot attendants to wrangle carts. To keep costs low you bus your own cart back to the storefront... This means you have to insert a quarter which is returned to you upon bussing it back. (In the South they call it the "Quarter Buggy Store". hehe!)
You should bring your own reusable shopping bags, else you have to buy them - I believe 5¢ for each paper bag. Expect to bag your own items, and expect to save up to a third off what you would pay at HyVee or even Walmart!
You won't find many name brand items here, though there are a few. If you do not like their store brand, they offer a Double Guarantee. They will refund your money PLUS give you a replacement, hassle free. I've been weekly for three years now and I've never once been disappointed so never used this myself, though I did witness another customer make use of this policy and it went smoothly just...
Read moreFor anyone that's never been to ALDI, they temporarily charge you a quarter for a cart so as to discourage people leaving their carts in the lot, when you bring the cart back, you get your quarter back. Also, there are no grocery bags at ALDI, you either bring your own bags, or you use a box from the shelves to put your groceries in. So when you go to ALDI, you need to prepare, but I'd say the price difference is worth a quarter and buying re-usable bags. Anyone who knows what Aldi is, know that they are a great place to shop for low cost basic grocery supplies. Eggs, milk, bread, cereal, etc... But this Aldi also has some nice extras. For example, they have regular and garlic naan, a good wine/beer selection, and even a cheese section. Obviously your choices are going to be fewer than at a larger shop where you have more choices. But you will find 95% of what you need at an ALDI....
Read moreI adore Aldi! I have a family of 5 (including 2 teen boys and 1 pre teen boy) who can tear through the pantry like locusts. This particular trip was made after the shelves at home were practically bare! I am a former couponer/price matcher, but since I began shopping at Aldi, I save on average 25% MORE than I ever did using coupons and price matching. After those price matching grocery trips I would be anxious and sweating, because it was so nerve wracking. Aldi saves me time and money by offering top quality healthy products at the lowest price possible. I could visit 2 aisles in Sam's or CostCo and spend more than the overflowing cart I fill at Aldi. They have high quality organic produce, meats, cheeses and condiments. I save money for my family...
