Adventures In Prospecting Mining Supplies — Local services in Oroville

Arrived at 11:20am. Website & store sign says opens at 11am. Called # on sign to call during bus. hours if door is locked. Called from door. Got VM. Left message. Called 20 min later. Owner answered. Said “we offer appointments, I’m not going to sit around all day waiting on 1 or 2 customers to walk in”. Explained I drove from out of town. Am waiting outside. Again and more rudely he restated “we make appointments for convince”. Again I stated “I drove from out of town. Then told him I’d find someone else to buy a metal detector from”. You missed out on a cash deal for a gold detector & accoricies, plus a few panning supplies I needed. I planed on spending well over $1000... cash. I’ve been here before, you weren’t friendly then & you topped that today! Won’t EVER come back. BTW, in the time it took me to write review, three other people stopped by your store... but nobody is home! ————————————————————— UPDATE: While searching for other local prospecting stores via cell phone (and a half hour later), his door flew open & sign placed outside business. It was either drive 2 hours north, south or east for the next store. What the hell, I was there & so was he. I went in. He was somewhat cold, warmed slightly as my purchases piled up. He assembled a couple items for me, and showed me product videos. As predicted, I spent $1040. I asked for a Treasure Seeker discount... no go. I spotted a $3 prospecting magazine & asked if I qualify for a free one... no go. So overall, I got the stuff I wanted, but at an inconvenience to the shop owner. You’d think he’d be great-full, but I felt like an incnvienance. BTW... another guy came in to shop while I was there... Open your doors & they will come!!! The owner of this business is very unprofessional. I went into his business to inquire about gold panning with my son only to have him very abruptly point his finger at me saying "what do you need, I'm with someone else" Feeling like I'm being put on the spot and rushed I thought I'd wait until he was done with his customer. After waiting several minutes I decided to wait and call him at a better time the next day. Right after he answered the phone he was rude and trying to hurry me up, literally rudely asking while I was in mid-sentence "is there anything else I can do for you I have other things to do". To the point where I said "I feel you're going to hang up on me" (we were only on the phone a little over a minute) - his response was pretty much get lost and hung up. I will never do business with this company in my life and will let everyone know the same.

Response: I did not notice the reply to my review 5 years ago. This owner is a liar and no way remembers me or my son, he is a gas lighter and tries to make me into the bad guy in order to dissolve my review. I have been amazed by two things in the last 5 years one watching a rocket return and land on its pad and the other that this business is still in operation.

Call them for some help because I was getting nowhere with other shops. Had some questions about metal detectors and got the same attitude I get from every other gold mining shop. It seems like if you don’t call them and know exactly what you’re talking about and you’re ready to spend lots of money they really feel like you’re wasting their time with questions that may Help me make a decision to make a purchase. It’s super disappointing when local shops do things like this with things like Amazon and online stores that are cheaper and more helpful via email. It’s gonna be sad to see these little spots get pushed out...
