food was outstanding. id like to spend more money here but the phone number listed is invalid so i cant order for pickup. they dont offer delivery which is by far the biggest loss for this place as they offer food other places dont and would run the local delivery market as the only establishment doing so with sushi especially. our walk in visit was awkward, no real host or hostess, we stood around not knowing if we just seat ourselves, finally someone seated us. we were at a table that was on a weak patch of floor, so everytime a person walked by our food and cocktails were rattling back and forth on our table substantially. none of that matters to me though, because the food was great, the bar and bartender, as well as the selection of top shelf spirits were excellent. one of the choices i tried to order from the lineup off the top shelf though i was told it was the owners unopened special bottle? ok, maybe put it on his/her desk instead of teasing customers who want a glass haha. were holding out for a phone number that works, and for ordering to go or for delivery. they would get our money weekly, and others as well. maybe they can get with union to figure out a website and delivery options through doordash. the menu online is 7 years old, and only a facebook page for any info on the place. it really needs some upselling and marketing help. i hope this place grows and thrives, tons of potential waiting to be ironed out here. i wish i was the manager the place would be hopping all the time. cheers to nori, thank you for the excellent food...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to frequent this place at their previous location. It had so much character until I noticed it got run down the last few weeks or months I went there. I guess they were getting the new place ready so they hardly kept up with the old place. But the food was excellent and they seemed to pay attention to customers. I tried their new location and my friend and I just stood there at the entrance without anyone directing us where to go and sit until a bartender finally noticed we were there for quite sometime. We were ready to leave. They use a plastic glass for water and that was fine until my friend noticed a lip mark on the glass. I wonder how that happened but that was gross. And for the most part servers just kept chatting and not going back to check on customers like they're supposed to. This is just an objective review. I actually thought their food was good so I frequented the place and have actually been generous in giving tips. My last experience just wasn't on par. So this review isn't to put them down but maybe as they read this, they will improve their service and pay more attention to detail. Unfortunately for me, I probably will look elsewhere to have my Japanese/Asian food. Best...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLocated in downtown Oroville, Nori Asian Kitchen + Sushi offers a variety of Asian dishes in addition to some really excellent sushi. This review will solely focus on the restaurant's sushi offerings.
Our group of three arrived in the evening for a weekday dinner and were seated without wait. We decided to go with their dragon roll, rainbow roll, and two of the chef's special roll. The chef's special roll is essentially a "surprise me" roll, in which the diner can provide some guidance (e.g. no cucumbers, nothing spicy) and leave it up to the sushi chef to practice their craft. I thought this was a particularly fun and interesting idea, and was definitely the highlight of our dining experience. Overall we enjoyed all four rolls, the fish was fresh, the rolls were flavorful, and everything was expertly prepared.
If you happen to be in Oroville and are looking for a good sushi place in town, then this is definitely the...
