I think the furniture quality and choices of materials and styles are great. I had difficulty choosing fabric because there were amber colored ceiling light shades. The room was darker because of this, especially the corners of the room. In fact, the only well lit area was in the very center of the fabric table directly below the ceiling lights. I mentioned this before I ordered and the designer and I took fabric samples near the windows. We both narrowed the selection down to 2 fabrics and then agreed that the darker of the 2 was the best choice. After that we looked at coffee tables and end tables for awhile. I told her that I would like to go ahead and order the matching chairs that day. Unfortunately, the designer wrote the wrong fabric on the order form. I signed the form, trusting that she remembered that the darker of the two fabrics was the correct fabric. At the same time, I ordered a swatch of the chair fabric. The chair fabric swatch arrived at our house about a week later. I immediately knew that it was the wrong fabric. It was the lighter of the 2 fabrics, not the one that was more of a medium linen color. The next day I drove to the store and told them. I asked if they could correct the mistake, but was I told that it was too late. The chairs were already in production and I had signed the order form. The next time I went to the store, I noticed that the ceiling lights had been changed to white ones. I have the matching chairs at our house now and am disappointed with the color. I did order the coffee and end tables and am happy with those. The designer and I both should have double checked the physical fabric samples, color names, and numbers. I feel that this should be standard practice for all of the designers at all stores to prevent these mistakes. Also, I really feel that something could have been done when I went back to the store just a week later, especially since I had ordered 2 matching chairs. An effort could and should...

I went into the store to look around,(all by myself) a consultant talked to me and said she could come over to our home they give consulting advice, I was happy about that she came and my husband was there working on the house, she measured and we set an appt to meet,she wanted us BOTH to be there. I had to call and tell her that my husband was not going to be able to make it, since floors are going in and he has to be ready for that, I wanted to just go, but she said that my husband should to be there, so she asked if we could both come in Sunday, still my husband said he Cannot make it because they are coming to do the floors on Monday, (He also said that he has never picked out anything in 42 years, why does he have to be there) I didn't even call back, my husband and I feel this is bizarre, I have purchased houses, rental properties, cars, boats, trailers all my myself, but apparently I cannot by a couch without him. I feel totally discredited, disappointed and feel this policy of Ethan Allen is wrong, also my friend told me that she has referred others to this person and they never had to have a husband present, so why me? Am I a stereotype of a middle aged woman that has to have a husband make her decisions? I know in my business there are Fair Housing rules that you treat everyone the same. I work with Dee When we were building our lake house back in 2013. She helped with design, furniture, art, window treatments, and bedding. Now 5 years later I still love everything she did with our house. So when we bought the big house in the Chicago land I knew the only person I trusted was Dee Gwiazdowski!!
