Wow! This handcrafted chocolate is really special! It’s so delicious with layers and depth of taste. It’s very different from the cheap, ordinary chocolate I previously had known but would barely remember eating afterward. THIS chocolate continues to be a quality treat I feel really good about purchasing for myself - given that it’s 70% dark chocolate which has some health benefits plus my purchase supports an ethical mission. Since it is naturally vegan and gluten free, I’ve also discovered it’s an affordable yet decadent gift for many different people!! Especially those who don’t want or need more “things”.
THIS handcrafted chocolate is complex in both taste and the production process but simple in that there are just 2 organic ingredients. That’s it! It is just SO good!!! The type of bean (slave-free & fair trade!) combined with the meticulous bean-to-bar processing results in a phenomenal product. Admittedly, I’ve tried and loved all the varieties Chocolate Thunder has offered so I figured it was time to write a review. Currently, the Sambirano Valley bar, with its clear fruity notes, is my favorite. Just like a good bottle of wine or an excellent cup of coffee, Chocolate Thunder’s chocolate bars are not only worth trying, they’re memorable. And, if you’re like me, you’ll be...
Read moreConnor came and did a presentation in my sustainability course at WMU and I just could not wait to try the chocolate. I purchased 2 bars (sign up on the site get 50% off your first order) and was able to add 2 more for the same price! I was never a fan of dark chocolate; however, my taste buds are now altered forever. There is no way I could go back to the cloyingly sweet chocolate from the 'big' stores ever again. The price of $12.00 per bar may seem like sticker shock to some, but when you look through his site and see what Connor is doing, you can't help but support his (should be all of ours) cause. Getting into the chocolate business to help prevent the slave labor of children in cacao fields is such a selfless thing, and he did not think twice about it. This is what all companies should aspire to, sustainable initiatives that have a huge impact and are beneficial to all stakeholders! Will be buying more. My favorite so far is Madagascar, from the...
Read moreMy wife loved it and that is probably the best review the chocolate can get. Chocolate Thunder only has two ingredients in all the bars that I have bought, but they list out the flavors you should be able to taste. I love how distinct the flavors are even though they aren't in it. This shows how different growing regions lend their own spin on the flavors. If you have ever gotten into good coffee beans or wine then you will love this chocolate. Each time you have a piece you taste a new flavor. It is a bit pricey… so, this is the kind of chocolate you pick up as a treat for sure but you get what...
