I don't usually complain because I have been a manager to restaurant for over 20 years and I know the public is hard to please but I'm not going to lie I used to love Meijer stores and I used to really look forward to the shopping days there but the last five to ten times that I have been there it has been a horrible experience you guys are always out of everything I drive a long way to get there and it's very disappointing that I have to go to more than one store because you guys do not keep your stuff stocked up anymore I know there's a pandemic going on but this happens frequently I'm afraid I'm going to start going other places I have been very disappointed with Meijer stores for many years now the last visit they way overcharged me for three items one was scanned eight times & cost me $40 or more because I did not look at the receipt before I left cuz I was so tired and frustrated by the time I get through the line I just want to get in my car and go home nobody knows anything in that store & to try to get some help it is impossible and I am handicapped and cannot walk back and forth through that store as your employees have instructed me to do many times to no avail of finding what I was searching for when they could clearly see I was handicapped and didn't even offer to go look themselves they just sent me on a safari and it happens all the time don't they have a phone they could call another section of the store to see if that product is in stock before they send me there to find an empty shelf the whole store has just become a mess the public service is nothing like it used to be I don't know maybe it is this covid-19 pandemic everything is out of order now hopefully this will change soon and the store will become one of my favorites again but for now I am staying away from your store it has been too much stress, anxiety and physically exhausting to take a trip there it takes me two days to recover after a shopping trip to Meijer anymore.....ugh! Read moreMeijer offers a good selection of items across the store especially in their produce department compared to others in the area and I have always preferred shopping here but the W. Main location needs work in the customer service department. My biggest complaint is their self check outs. You aren't able to scan heavy or big items unless you pick them up because they don't have a scanner at each checkout. This makes it difficult with people with disabilities or unable to lift items multiple times. I know Meijer has their self check out workers use handheld scanners to help customers and they are told to do so but at this location they never do unless you ask which is hard to do as when they aren't pretending to assist customers they are at their station playing on their phones and ignoring the assistance lights until they feel like helping. There are 10 other Meijer locations within a 30 mile radius of this location and there is always someone who comes up to offer to scan large items even when they are busy. I have asked management about this and some cashiers which have said they are encouraged to do this to keep theft down and to avoid bad reports from secret shoppers that count against the cashier at the time and the store. If other locations can do this then this location should retrain their cashiers on how to...
Read moreMeijer has gone full-blown giant evil corporation:
The majority of their sales/discounts force you buy in bulk.
If you are an MPerks member then they make you jump through hoops to get any discount.
You want to save four dollars off the overpriced laundry soap? You have to download the app give them all your personal information, your phone number, oh and by the way the cell coverage inside is terrible so you'll have to be on Meijer Wi-Fi so they can track you while you move all around the store scanning their products and getting your discount through an app.
So much for single people needing sales (you have to buy 5 pf something to get the deal), or so much for senior citizens being able to navigate the confusing app/sale system.
Most seniors don't even have the type of phone needed to get these sales.
You cannot walk into Meijer and just get a good deal, they make you beg for it.
This is no longer the friendly community neighborhood store it used to be. They're here to take advantage of you every step of the way.
I'm so over this sort of thing every time I go into Meijer that I just put everything in my cart back except for the one item I came in to get, and am now going to shop at Walmart.
Because at least when Walmart gives you a price, it's the price, and they're not making you jump through...
