My local Aldi store at the corner of 151st Street and Metcalf in Overland Park is my "go to" place to purchase food staples that I use every day. I can and do buy a wide variety of bagged salads that meet my budgetary requirements at prices that are significantly below those of my local Walmart. This store is stocked several times a week, so the "use by" dates on packages are consistently far out. This means that I can buy several packages at once without having to worry about freshness before they are used. This also helps to minimize shopping trips. Another item I regularly purchase are packaged square cheese bite sized slices suitable for use on crackers. My favorite flavors are Colby Jack and Mozzarella! Love to eat these with salads! And, once again, they are significantly less expensive than similar items found at Walmart. Finally, I regularly buy pork loin chops, varieties of ribeye steak, beef fillets from Mortons of Chicago, and boneless, skinless chicken breasts from my Aldi store. The loin chops are consistently fresh and tender. I usually get ribeye packages which include two vacuum packed one half pound portions. I cannot say enough about the convenience and cost benefits of these offerings. The portions are generous, and I find that the quality of the meat significantly exceeds that of local grocery competitors. They are always tender and juicy. Equally as important, since they are vacuum packed, they stay fresh forever, and I don't find myself "forced" to cook them simply because I left them in the fridge a little too long. There's no freezing and thawing process because they stay fresh for an exceptionally long period of time. This means that they get eaten whenever the urge strikes ME!. The chicken breasts beat anything similar in local stores in terms of quality and tastes. Oh, and did I forget to mention, the prices of these meat and poultry products meet or beat those of Aldi's local competitors! One last thing. I get all of my canned dark red kidney beans and pinto beans from Aldi too. They are a great addition to salads, and I use the pinto beans in some of the Turkish dishes that I occasionally prepare. The quality and prices are unbeatable. Not shopping at Aldi? Are you made of money? You don't like to get quality AND value when you shop? Chuck your old, time worn shipping habits right now, and get yourself to the Aldi store closest to you right now. Go in and look around. You...
Read moreThe store was clean, well stocked and well laid out. Staff was minimal, but business was slow and the staffing level seemed appropriate. The only issue I had with this location is that I noticed a couple shoppers walking around with masks worn improperly (under the chin, or over mouth only but not nose), and the sanitizing supplies at the door were depleted, and though I mentioned both issues to staff members, no one seemed particularly interested in upholding local and national health advisories and guidelines. I will probably not return to this location for...
Read moreI am primarily an Aldi shopper , but tonight as I was shopping at the location off 159/Metcalf there were 3 dogs in the store. Little dogs, but still dogs. One was riding in a cart !! As a nurse, I 1000% support service animals but service dogs do not ride in carts, or walk thru the store in pairs wearing matching puffer jackets. I asked an employee.. they said it was not worth the fight to ask them to leave. (??) I personally do not want to put my food in a cart that a dog was just in!!! Please...
