Warning, long story. Today was the second time my wife and I visited this store. While the selection does not appeal to my personal tastes, my wife was pleased with what they had to offer and walked out with a giant stack of books utilizing their buy 10 get 10 deal. Happy as can be. Today however was another matter. She had brought in books to trade for store credit. The gentleman who assisted her barely said two words to her and was kinda rushing to take her trade ins. As that process finished, she received her card with the store credit amount but was not informed on how the credit at this store worked. For those who are unaware, store credit can only be applied to 50% off each individual USED book. Not the entire purchase. Plus, credit cannot be used when using a store sale/discount such as the current buy 10 get 10 sale. Naturally one would assume that store credit can be used as if it were cash, as that is how most other stores use it. However the gentleman did not explain the unique nature of their store credit, nor did he ask her if this was the first time she's traded in books before so that there was some clarity on the matter. She spent 90 minutes going through the store looking for 20 books to utilize the 10 for 10, only to find out at checkout that the credit would not apply. At this point she was just shocked by the whole thing that we ended up leaving right then and there. Highly unlikely we will...
Read moreIt’s so neat seeing people’s dreams come true. I recall talking to the shop owner, Mr. O’Neil-Rojas, during a field trip we chaperoned. He shared his wife’s dream to run this book store in Oviedo. I’ve watched it grow in variety since opening.
The store is really organized and labeled. I highly recommend it!
I brought in our first trades as we are purging our private library. While I was walking around, I overhead during the book inspection there was sand on the books. I cringed as I realized one of the boxes must have had sand in it from my husband lovingly clearing the leaves from the garage with the leaf blower this morning. They graciously wiped down the books that were a good addition to their already amazing collection. Next time, I’ll make sure my books are in a tote with a lid while they stay in the garage so the leaf blower doesn’t...
Read moreIf you go to HPB (Half-Priced Books) in Ohio, you’ll get where I’m coming from here. When I saw this store from the road, I had oddly gotten HPB vibes and I HAD to go see why. This store is very much like HPB! The only thing keeping me from giving them five stars was the size of their inventory. Don’t get me wrong here, the store is plenty big right now. I just think it’d be awesome if they were able to expand and improve their selection. They have the potential to become the Florida equivalent of Half-Priced Books, and if you read this review I strongly urge you to help them out as much as you can! I...
