So I've lived in Oviedo for about a year now, and I JUST came here for the first time. I am ashamed. But I brought a friend here for brunch one day, and I am glad I did. The place is so cozy, like an old school diner. There isn't a bad seat in the whole place, and there's a patio for outdoor eating. We got seated, everyone was nice to us, and our server was very personable and easy to talk to.
I browsed the menu for a long time, because everything looked good. I ultimately decided on the Greek Village Omelet (Gyro meat, black olives, feta and onions. Can we suggest a side of Tzatziki for those home fries?). I did, however, ask them to get rid of the terrible olives and replace them with mushrooms, so, keep that in mind. This was great. I've had my fair share of omelets in my day, but this was my first gyro meat omelet, and I loved it. The add-ins/egg ratio was perfect, and the feta was juuust ooey gooey enough to make this unique omelet a real winner of a breakfast.
Some side notes, the biscuit is tall and fluffy. It really tasted like it was homemade, so I recommend you get the biscuit no matter what your entree is. Toast is toast. This biscuit was special. Also, I did try the tzatziki sauce on my home fries, and it really didn't add anything to the dish. So save your $2.00.
I also got to sample the The Historic Downtown Oviedo Platter (Celebrating our rapidly changing Downtown, we've gathered 2 eggs, bacon and link sausage with grits or home fries and paired it with one of our famous open-faced biscuits and topped off with a serving of our sausage gravy).
Everything there was solid, tasted like good diner food, and is also a solid choice, if you're considering it. The ONLY thing, is that the sausage gravy was a little below average. Growing up in the South, I've probably just tasted a lot of homemade sausage gravies made by cooks who were more aggressive, so, I might be biased. Other than that, solid choice.
Overall, this place is an Oviedo institution, and people have been coming here for decades, for good reason. I'd want to bring visitors here rather than some...
Read moreWe rolled into The Town House around 12:30 today, just as the post-church crowd was starting to flood in. Thankfully, we snagged a table within the promised 20 minutes. It was packed, inside and out, thanks to the glorious Florida weather - a welcome break from the usual heat! This place is a true Oviedo institution, and it's easy to see why it's been going strong since 1955. Whether you're craving breakfast, lunch, or dinner, they've got you covered - and the best part? All menus are served all day! You'll find a delightful mix of classic diner breakfasts, comforting Southern dishes, and even some tasty Greek specialties. The service is always exceptional. You can tell the staff genuinely cares, and many of them have been here for years, creating a warm, familiar atmosphere. They treat you like family, even when they're swamped. I'm a creature of habit and always go for the fried chicken livers. They're cooked fresh, so they're never oily or mushy, and the brown gravy is a must. I typically get the vegetable of the day as my side, but went with the half order of biscuits and sausage gravy at the suggestion of my coworker, who was in disbelief that I'd never had them. My wife decided on the potato pancake breakfast, and it was a feast! A huge plate of golden latkes, perfectly cooked eggs, and all the fixings - sour cream and applesauce. Our 7-year-old wanted chicken tenders, and our server was kind enough to warn us that the kids' portion was just one tender. We appreciated her honesty and opted for the adult portion, which was the perfect amount for his hungry appetite. We keep coming back to The Town House because the food is consistently fresh and delicious, the service is always top-notch, even when they're crazy busy, and it's a genuine slice of Oviedo history. It's a must-try for anyone looking for a classic diner experience with a touch of Southern and...
Read moreThe front hostess took our name for a table. She said it would be 5-10 minutes wait to be seated. We were a party of 2. During our wait for a table there were 3 other parties that came in after us that put their name down for a table. The hostess ended up calling the parties that came in after us and didn't even acknowledge our place in line for a table. We said something to the hostess when she seated a party of 4 who was 2 places behind us, and that we are walking out. We will never come back to this place. We ended up walking out and all the hostess could say is "sorry about that". We won't patronize a restaurant that has incompetent staff. My husband even purchased a cap from this restaurant with their logo. He said he will burn it instead of wearing it. We won't advertise for a restaurant with zero service, and treats customers like trash. We will never come back to the restaurant again. This restaurant deserves 0 stars.
Update to the Owner's Response: The hostess that took our name down for a table didn't ask us if we wanted outdoor or indoor seating. We just asked for the next available table. We didn't indicate a preference on seating, and she didn't give us an option. The flimsy excuse that we were only waiting for an indoor table is a lie. Also, when we complained to the hostess when she was seating the party of 4 before us, she didn't say the party of 4 wanted outdoor seating. All she said was "sorry about that". Your staff not only dropped the ball in our case, but lied to cover themselves. I did send you an email yesterday about our very disappointing experience. From your response, it is apparent your staff not only is incompetent but lies to excuse their lack of service which is enough reason for us not to revisit...
