If you want anything below a rare you have to put in an order online, you cannot look through the cards, even if you inquire in store first. On top of that, the lowest they charge for a common is 60 cents, even if they're 2 or 5 cent cards. Don't waste your money and drive 20 minutes to a shop in Faribault.
Edit: very weird that they also looked up a social media profile and checked cameras to see what I looked like and monitor how much I've been in the store, this does not matter considering they are the only game shop in Owatonna, and I wanted to give the store multiple chances, as I was hoping it wasn't as bad as it seemed. On top of that people do enjoy looking through cards and despite having them on the website you should still be able to dig through. A naive and weird owner. This is hands down the most expensive card store I've ever seen, the "convenience" does not justify the minimum price at all. Shop on tcgplayer, coolstuffinc, etc instead to get cards that are fairly priced and for cheap shipping :)
Response to edit: social media was necessary, because how would you know who to look for in the footage at the certain times if, like you stated, I had never placed an order in the store. Even if your inventory is sorted, I should be able to tell the cashier what I'm looking for and they should be able to grab it and give it to me without me needing to go on my phone, find them all on the website, place and order, and wait 20 minutes or more. You could even just have me stand at the counter with the box and get them with the cashier right there if labor is such a worry to you, which why would sorting cards not be an expected part of a TCG shop job.
I did in fact ask if there was a box of commons/uncommons I could look through and was told no. I enjoy digging through as I usually find other good cards, cool arts, or just different arts of cards I'm looking for. This is usually a good thing and a business model multiple big companies even instill, known as "impulse buys" which benefit the business into having more income due to the customer having to look "around" (at/through in this case) at more product, getting tempted, and buying more...
