If you’re a pizza lover in Minnesota, “A Taste of the Big Apple” is an absolute gem that deserves a spot on your must-visit list. I recently had the chance to try their pizza, and it was such an unforgettable experience that I can honestly say I would travel from the Twin Cities all over again just for another slice.
The pizza here is unlike anything I’ve ever had before. The crust strikes the perfect balance between crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, while the sauce bursts with fresh, tangy flavor. As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to find such delicious vegetarian options that didn’t feel like an afterthought — they were every bit as indulgent and satisfying as any traditional pizza. The quality of ingredients truly shines through in every bite.
What sets “A Taste of the Big Apple” apart is not just the food, but the people. The staff are genuinely amazing — warm, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. You can tell they’re passionate about what they do, and that energy really adds to the dining experience. They make you feel like a valued guest from the moment you walk in.
I’ve tried plenty of pizzas in my life, but this was my first time having pizza in this style, and it exceeded every expectation. It’s worth the drive, worth the calories, and worth every penny. If you’re looking for authentic flavor, incredible hospitality, and something you’ll crave again and again, this...
Read moreBring cash. I stopped in on my way back to the twin cities to discover they don't take plastic -- cash and check only. The staff was very helpful to point me toward the closest two ATMs, so a quick trip around the corner and I was back. I had 2 slices, breadsticks, and a bottle of soda. The price was very reasonable. The breadsticks were just a long roll cut in half with garlic -- a little unexpected, but not bad at all. The pizza was great and I wish I had gotten a third slice instead of the breadsticks. It's not like the pizza you'd get in NY, but it's honestly close enough. Compared to what you'd get on the corner in NYC: the crust was a little thicker, it's more rigid, and there were a lot more toppings. None of these are bad things -- just offering it as a comparison, given the name. There's not a lot of seating. The restaurant was very clean. All in all, I would recommend it. I'll certainly stop again the next time I'm...
Read moreGiving this 4 stars because of the price. My whole family can share a Large pizza and the kids get Juice Boxes and water. They are affordably priced. As a family of 5 we can do a lunch or dinner for $15 to $20. There is no air in this place but it reminds me of a Resturaunt in Guatemala or the Yucatan and the kids love the upstairs dinning area. I wouldn't call this amazing pizza just decent pizza for the price and we appreciate that. Not everything has to be amazing sometimes good food priced well and convenience is worth it. It's also nice that you can take a pizza across the park and lounge in the grass. I am bummed at the lack of shops in Downtown Owatonna. There is real potential here and the city has the opportunity to make something of this downtown area. This little place was a welcome reprieve to the lack of shops...
