Now, usually I'm a big fan of Hobby Lobby. I just bought a house so I have spent way too money there in the past 2 months. I was about to start my Christmas haul but the manager there (Hispanic Male) was really rude today. I will be shopping at Home Goods in the same shopping center for Christmas now. I was purchasing a flower arrangement that was on sale for 50% off. It was the only one and the cost was $149.99. As I waiting in the line for the register, I noticed that the wooden vase was pretty scuffed and it looked as if it had been colored in with a paint marker and still showed many scratches on the base. I asked the clerk if an additional markdown could be taken as I wanted the item but it was obviously damaged. She called a manager, a woman, who said to offer 10% off. I had gotten out of line to wait for this answer so I decided to go ahead with the additional 10%. Once I received my receipt, I noticed that the 10% discount was not added. 10% off of $149.00 is almost $15 and when I told the clerk, she told me that I would have to go wait in the return line to fix it. Once I did that, the return clerk told me that she would have to verify the 10% discount again. By now, I was beginning to think that this arrangement wasn't work all this effort. The male manager came over, obviously already with an attitude and his little tablet and asked me who told me that it was 10% off. I explained that I had just checked out on register 5 and he could ask her but I didn't take note of anyone's name. He began to go on about how it was already on sale. I know this...remember, I shop(ped) there several times a week. WIth a look of disgust, he takes his phone outs to calculate the discount and tells the return clerk to return the money to my card and re-check it at discount. By now, I am insulted that he has questioned me after I have waited in line twice for this damaged flower arrangment. I told the clerk that I did not like the way that I was being questioned rudely and that she should just return my money. I am a Manager in my work field. I manage many people and customers on a daily basis. I offer gratis service when the client is unhappy and that goes a long way in maintaining ongoing business. I know that I am just one customer but this upset me enough to write this long review. I hope someone will address this poor customer service from this manager (I wish I had gotten his name) because right now, I won't be shopping there for my Hobbies, decor, framinng, etc. in this Palatine Hobby Lobby! Do Better! October 7, 2020.
UDATE: This bothered me so much that I went back on Ooctober 10th, for 3 reasons. 1. I wanted to take a photo of the damage on the flower arrangement (See below). 2. I needed the name of the manager. His name is Brian 3. I needed the rest of the yarn to finish my scarf that I am...
Read moreI drove in from Naperville and I needed to get a piece of art wired so it could hang in a show i was on my way to and I had only 30 min to get there before the deadline… I went to the framing department, and I was ignored by the employee there. I, eventually had to speak up to get her attention, and I asked if someone could wire my art for me .. she called a boy that work there, and asked him if he even had time to help me, even though the store was really really dead, and no one was there, but myself, and another customer. I don’t know how long it took this young man to wire my art, but it seemed like forever maybe 30 minutes … so then I go to check out in the front. It was myself and another customer who were waiting patiently in line for the cashier and another customer to finish up their conversation which seemed to go on forever… not concerned about the other customers in line the cashier didn’t seem to care. I finally spoke up and asked if the cashier could call someone to open a line because I was in a hurry …the woman who was speaking with the cashier, says to me “you should have managed your time better!” I was shocked !! I didn’t respond to her because people like that are looking for trouble…. And when it was time for me to check out, the woman did not move, and was still talking to the cashier, and was also was blocking the card reader, and when I asked her to move she said “your grouchy” the manager was standing right there but no one said anything there was no apology. Thankfully I don’t live in Palatine but the customer service there in the employees and some of the customers were...
Read moreTerrible customer service! I had a horrible experience this past Saturday. Alex, the cashier helping my family and I was extremely rude. Since the moment we stepped into the register and mention we were doing an exchange she started with an attitude, grabbing the merchandise rudely, making comments under her breath, throwing items… She continued to do it even after I told her to stop being so rude, and she seemed to do it even more. I get it we all have bad days at work but that is no reason to take it out on someone who had nothing to do with how you’re feeling. She was so rude my 8 year old sister asked why she was acting like that, an 8 year old! That should show you how bad of a service she was portraying. I let her finish doing our transaction and walked out, corporate has been involve but never, NEVER will I be stepping foot into Hobby Lobby in...
