I don't know why I hadn't thought of this earlier but I got a hankering for Indian cuisine. Specifically, the one food I could eat every day for the rest of my life: chicken saag. So I began looking for someplace nearby that might actually be open at 1:30pm on a Saturday. If you eat at Indian restaurants you KNOW that's a challenge! Anyway, Indian Bistro checked off the necessary boxes so off I went.
I'll just cut to the chase: everything I ordered was delicious and reasonably priced!!
I don't know how anybody could complain about small portions. I walked out of there absolutely stuffed AND with leftovers! Here's what I ordered:
Chicken Saagwala (so. much. food.) Samosas (two huge samosas per order) Gulab Jamun (two in the order) 1 Diet Coke
The saag was very good - maybe a little less spicy than I'm used to but still very tasty. The samosas were huge, quite spicy and delicious. The gulab jamun were large and sweet - a lovely ending to a yummy meal! All cost around $24. Not bad for a huge meal with plenty of leftovers! My only complaint is that you have to buy cans of soda. They have a fountain machine right there. Ugh.
FYI: this place is super casual - like, cafeteria casual. You go to the counter, order your food, and then wait for them to tell you it's ready. Then you bring your plastic tray with styrofoam containers of tasty food to your table and enjoy! Before you leave, take your tray to the back of the room and dispose appropriately 😊
Did I like it? Hecks yeah! In fact, I loved it so much, I'm fighting the urge to go back...
Read moreThe ratings are mis leading. After waiting for long period, taste of the food was very disappointing for our family. We had tough time to understand how professional cooks make food worse than what we prepare at home. We ordered quiet a few dishes, did't get the good quality spice taste in any of them. I don't know how much $ they save by avoiding good quality spices for the preparations, it does'nt taste well. Adding more salt and pepper does'nt compensate good spice. I also noticed color added to one dish, to mitigate what? tastes repulsive. You can also notice the food is not fully cooked, depending on the dish you order. The service is also poor. You see an oversmart server at front desk, who will drive you thru in his rude brootish style. He is also a cook. You have to take it, once you gone there. It seems, this person might be thinking as if a moron, you are there waiting for food, becos the food is so irressistable. The truth is completely opposite. His passion to serve a white american so humbly, surprising though, not his fault, blame his DNA. Bottom line, your 50 bucks fetch no good food, but abundant brutish rude behavior from that server, which you remember. We had our nice Friday evening spoiled. If you want to get taste of good real Indian spice with gentle service, try some where...
Read moreA week ago, late in the evening, my son and I found ourselves hungry and wanted to get Indian food. We Googled and found Indian Bistro, which online says is open until 9:30 pm, but it actually closes at 9:00 pm on weekdays. Despite arriving just 30 minutes before closing, the staff was incredibly friendly, kind, and willingly taking our order. The food surpassed our expectations, being both delicious and generous in terms of sauces and meat—the essentials. However, the portion of rice was on the smaller side, which is fine since we didn’t go there to eat rice ;-). Considering we paid over $30 for two dishes, bread and a drink, we expected better-quality plates and containers, but they were very flimsy. When you open the containers, it can get a bit messy. The place is perfect for a take-out.
The Chicken Tikka Masala was delicious but had no kick, even though we didn’t request it to be mild. The Lamb dish was delicious, full of flavor. Because you get so much delicious sauces, we just made fresh rice, and had dinner next day. The paratha bread was another highlight, so delicious that I ordered couple extra pieces home. The staff, didn’t mind even though they were closing in a few minutes. If you want a good Indian to-go food - this is a place. We will definitely be ordering...
