I found Krista + Home after researching several different interior design companies. Her work looked beautiful and I was excited to meet with her to discuss hiring her and her team to complete our dream home. I explained to her that due to my husbands career, we would be traveling/living in another city for 6 plus months, she assured me that I was in the best hands and that it was better if we weren’t here because things would get done more efficiently and they wouldn’t be in the way of our everyday living. We had several in-depth conversations regarding my budget, my likes and dislikes and what I was expecting to get at the end of the project. Krista and Fran assured me that Krista + Home was the perfect designer for my wants and needs and that at the end of the project she would provide a white glove inspection herself and guaranteed complete satisfaction. Unfortunately this could not have been further from the truth. The lighting that was chosen for my home ( that yes I did approve but I am not a designer. That’s why I hired them) was damaged, too small for spaces, too big for spaces, ordered too many and some not up to the quality of what I was getting charged. In addition to that, they required me to pay for installation and removal of the lights numerous times even though they were damaged and improperly measured. Secondly, we discussed my budget on several occasions. A majority of the finishing items mostly including tile choices they chose for my contractor to install were way out of the budget we discussed and was not informed of that. Thankfully my contractor informed me (one of the many conversations I had with him) of the cost of the finishing items and had to go through and end up picking out all the tile myself that was in my budget. Which led to things not matching. They just wanted to get our “project of this scope” (in their words) done. My 100,000 dollar budget ( which they went way over) wasn’t that important to them. Thirdly, when I returned home I was appalled at the “finalized accessories”. It was evident they had gone through my closets to find old items that I had set aside to donate to goodwill and put them throughout my house. I had to hire someone else to shop and finish accessorizing since it was not done by their firm. Apparently we would have had to purchase an accessory and art package that starts at $10,000. So instead I just had all my old stuff from my old house everywhere. This obviously took more time and money from me even though I was assured the project would be completed. I tried to communicate with them on several different occasions to express my concerns and disappointment but was met with very little to no help with the situation. There are many more situations that did not go as they should have, spending the money that we did but I wanted to keep this as short as possible. Having spent a total of $ 200,000 ( that’s including our bill from the contractor which was 85,000) and my house not looking much different than when we started, I was extremely disappointed with...
Read moreOur family has had the pleasure of designing and building 2 homes with the KH team over the last 5 years and we could not imagine going through the process without Krista and her team of all-stars. Their ability to be creative within the constructs of your own unique style is off the charts. The KH secret in our opinion is their ability to listen, and to sift through all our ideas and inspirations to ultimately get to a place where they can formalize what we could never fully articulate on our own. It is truly their secret sauce in how they can dive in and understand our voice and our lifestyle and design around that and in support of that. The end result is a gorgeous and functional home that you can’t wait to come home to!
The fact that KH can execute at such a high level on very tight timelines with poise and patience, in the middle of a challenging supply chain environment is herculean. They are cool, fun, and supportive and always looking to do what’s best for the project. We’ve had the privilege of seeing Krista’s portfolio and her business grow exponentially during the last 5 years, and we were delighted that the service and attention to detail went from great to exceptional as the company became more well known and in greater demand. Their systems and processes are best in class.
It would be an understatement to say that KH is our secret weapon. After living in our home for about 4 years we decided to move to be closer to our children’s school. We sold our first designed KH home in less than 3 weeks, completely turn-key with every piece of furniture and accessory (down to the kitchen cutlery) for a premium price, setting a new benchmark for highest dollar per square foot in our community.
On our second project together, we brought the KH team into the mix during the preconstruction phase. They worked seamlessly with the architect, engineer and GC to advocate on our behalf and help us think a few steps ahead. Krista’s counsel and calming way were critical in helping us navigate what could have been a very stressful time. They consulted on every detail, from something we all may have overlooked – like the placement of a light switch to the intricate design of a master shower, they were on top of everything. Their leadership was instrumental on exterior/architectural elements and all the final little touches that make such a difference in transforming a house into a home.
We are looking forward to our next design / build with the team but for now we intend to enjoy the heck out of our...
Read moreHi Krista and Team,
We bought this home after one viewing in January 2020. We have not set foot in here again until today, some 15 months later.
I have been in the design business for 30 years. It is an incredibly difficult business. For reasons I don’t need to explain.
We are very pleased with the design. But where your firm stands out is the level of care and service that was displayed throughout the process. It really was world class. Working remotely did not present any challenges that we did not overcome together.
The place looks great. We are excited to make it our home away from home. We have a few questions for Fran and some small details to iron out, but we are thrilled.
Thank you to everyone at Krista Home who worked so hard and put up with the likes of me for the past many months.
You are at the top of your game.
Thank you, Joseph,...
