Florida Sun Vacation Rentals — Local services in Palm Harbor

Made a huge mistake and booked direct from this Agency. We rented the CHARMING DUNEDIN COTTAGE at the end of July from this agency and ended up regretting our choice. While the cottage itself was located very conveniently close to everything and I could see the owners had thought of everything to make sure guests have a great time it is completely mismanaged by Florida Sun Vacations. When we got there the place was dirty and smelled like smoke it did not look like it was vacuumed in a while, the towels and sheets were stained, shower and sink were dirty and there was lots of hair everywhere. The inside of the refrigerator was moldy and sticky and several open cases of alcohol were still in it. We found out pretty quickly when we tried to reach out to our local contact, Brian, that he was not really interested in remediating the situation, he seemed oblivious to all of this and even admitted he was not aware of the state of the unit as he was preoccupied with an upcoming personal vacation and indicated there are cleaning supplies and a laundry room if we wanted to do anything about it. He did bring some new towels upon insisting but past that Brian's solution to everything was “ If you don't like it leave”. I was sad to see the level of incompetence and disregard for ones comfort and safety specially since we were paying guests and other than a clean unit we didn't ask for much. I informed him that we are not in violation of our STR agreement and will not leave, we cleaned the place up, we washed all the sheets and comforters the first day and we carried on with our vacation but will not Ever rent from this agency again. We booked our vacation rental for September 2017 in October 2016. It was torn from under us in mid-July with absolutely no remorse to the fact that we were having a SMALL reception following our wedding ceremony. They were well aware of this, as we agreed to pay their additional $500 event fee when we booked our reservations. While we understand that things sometimes happen, this situation was handled terribly. We we're told it was POSSIBLE the property MAY NOT be available, but it wouldn't be known for sure until a few weeks. This was a mere TWO MONTHS before our wedding. We had two other couples staying with us as well. We simply asked for a bit more urgent answer or another way to work things out. Instead we were refunded our $500 deposit and told that things happen. Unfortunately, my fiancé and I have been blatantly disrespected by Brian via phone call as well as email. So while he may play the card of following business protocol, I don't believe that berating potential renters via voicemail, phone call and emails is very professional. I'll be sure to keep all of these things saved in case Brian ever wants to call me a liar the way he tried to when we contacted the BBB. If he's actually respectful to you, best wishes and enjoy your vacation. But I would tread lightly and have a back up plan if you choose...

Just got back from using Florida Sun Vacation Rentals and I was very happy with it. I usually never go third party or the Airbnb route so going with a vacation rental was a first for me. The unit my family used was in Innisbrook. Although it’s an older complex, the unit was recently updated. Everything was clean, and the rules of the rental were sent to us in advance. Booking through them is a lot cheaper than booking with Innisbrook, probably half the cost. You just can’t use all of the amenities like the Loch Ness Pool, but there’s plenty of beaches nearby to use. Plus, it saves you the resort fee you normally would be charged. The unit was very quiet and I never got woken up my four nights there. I checked out the other rentals on their website and would definitely consider trying one of their rental properties. This one was clean, quiet, and in a good location....
