Smugglers Island Pub — Restaurant in Florida

Felt very unwelcome, staff does not smile or look you in the eye. I couldn't get a 2nd drink, 4 people in the bar. Total elitist wannabe locals dive, when the head bartender, thin dude came out, he ignored me, then suddenly apologizing to an elderly NY guy for not immediately running up and shaking his hand greeting him. That seemed an odd thing to apologise for. I asked the same guy for a drink when the lady bartender didn't offer me a second round? He mumbled, snubbed me and never came back. I hung out for 5 more minutes and finally asked her and got a beer, closed my check and left. When I met the owners months ago they seemed so nice. We even planned a fishing trip. Maybe they sold it to a group of asshles or hired a crew of asshles? I don't go to bars much anymore but my money is as green as everybody else's. I'm 50 years in Ozona, an original. My girlfriend and I went here with our dog to see how it was. As we walked up we saw a dog at the bar so we figured we were good. As I took him for a quick walk, I came back to see a drunk guy slurring to her. I originally thought he was a patron, but then she told me he was a server (she thinks) and that he was giving her a hard time about our dog being there. She asked why it was an issue since there was a dog at the bar already to which he replied it was the owner's dog and he could do what he wants. Needless to say, we left without even ordering anything and went to dog friendly Dunedin. We definitely won't be going back here ever again and will be sure to not recommend it either. Hands down my favorite overall bar! Not only because of the fun outside atmosphere or great food but mostly because these are some of the best bartenders ever! Sarah, Kay and that man with the amazing beard Vinny! They make fabulous cocktails or ask for one their custom shots, Sarah makes a shot that taste just like skittles. Kay makes her “Kaprisun” it’s like sticking a straw in a deliciously dangerous juice pouch. Be sure to have one of Vinny’s blue cherry Gatorade, I promise you’ll know what it is with your eyes closed. These 3 working together makes a rockstar team and a great bar experience so.
