I have been to De Bine brewery before and actually like it, but today my opinion absolutely changed, hence the poor review. We recommended the brewery to our family and all went together to grab a drink while the Super Bowl was playing. In total there were 5 adults and my 3 year old daughter. At one point our party went into the “game room,” that was completely empty. We were watching the game when another female customer came into the game room presumably to play a game. She approached my mother-in-law and stated that the game room was for 21 and up only (pointing out that my 3 year old was in the room). At this point my daughter was sitting on the couch not disturbing anyone and no where near the female customer. My mother-in-law politely said, ok if my granddaughter bothers you please let us know and we will leave. The female customer grabbed her quarters and left the room immediately. Over thirty minutes later the bartender came into the room and kicked us out because my 3 year old who was supervised by 5 adults was in an empty game room that was apparently “21 and up.” The bartender confirmed that the earlier female customer complained, even though she never re-entered the room even after we were removed. I understand policy but at the same time I believe there is a reasonableness to a policy. I believe in a situation where literally no one is in the room, and there are 5 adults supervising a 3 year old, maybe the policy should be flexible and you’re business should make decisions based on reason. I completely understand the policy if there are minors not being monitored (it’s not a game room to occupy children when adults are in the other room), but be reasonable when it’s a well behaved child with multiple adults and no one else in the room. I will not be returning to De Bine and I will never recommend the brewery especially to families with children. Not a family...
Read moreI took my family to the brewery today and it was my second visit and first for them! My first visit was amazing connecting with the bartender and another customer about beer and sports. My second visit was absolutely abhorrent which started out with me asking the female bartender if my wife could sample the three different IPAs they had on tap. Her response was “well, that’s a lot of sampling”…as she’s walking away unhappy. I spoke up and said that we could try one at a time and she just angrily poured all three and sat them down in front of my wife. I ordered my beer and when she returned with it I stated that we would take whatever the one in the middle was and her response again was rude and condescending. Well, I don’t know if you changed them from where I sat them down she exclaimed. My retort was that they were in the same position as when she brought them and she again rudely stated that how was she supposed to know and quickly went through the names. We eventually got our beer and went to a table to sit. Before all of this even occurred she began with we could order at the bar, but couldn’t remain there as we had our son with us. No problem I said, then all of the rudeness began. We were just looking to spend a pleasant Easter Sunday chilling while discovering a new brewery. What we experienced was either blatant racism since my family is blended Caucasian and Asian or at best just a rude encounter with an unhappy person! I believe the aforementioned as she was very talkative to everyone else who happened to be Caucasian. Amazing that we still experience...
Read moreWe stopped in last Sunday for the first time after moving here a year ago. I'd had de Bine's beers at a couple of events in the area, and we've ridden our bikes past the brewery a ton of times, but hadn't actually dropped in yet. Beers were great. I had Cocoa Coma, their chocolate milk stout. It was easy to see why this beer has won a bunch of medals. Cocoa comes through for sure, but doesn't dominate the base beer. Next I switched it up and tried their Italian Pilsner, Sempre Accanto. It was super drinkable, crisp, and refreshing, what I like to refer to as a great lawnmower beer. Service was great too, super friendly bartenders. We found out right as we were heading out that one of our bartenders was also the head brewer. The taproom and balcony attached to the brewhouse is also really cool, although it was a little warm the day we went so we sat in the taproom. Overall great experience and great beers, we'll be back...
