The employee is Liandros or Leo I believe he called himself.
It started with me calling to put a game on hold. I was greeted with attitude over the phone and I was told they could not put something on hold even if it’s the last product available. I’ve never been told this before in the entire time I’ve visited gamestops. They eventually say they would do it and I head on over.
While there I wanted to make a return and also do some shopping as well as a trade in. While waiting I overhear the employee talking to the next person in line. The customer was buying a POP Figurine of The Little Mermaid. The employee asks the customer “Are you buying this to show others that you are Woke?” Such an odd question to ask. The customer responded that he was buying it as a gift for his daughter.
I just want to note that I have never been more patient or calm while this was all happening. I never go out of my way to write or report things that I am reporting now but in all my years of being in customer service I have never seen someone so casually make everyone feel uncomfortable about their purchases. Awful comments and poorly placed “jokes”
It’s my turn to begin my transaction and I ask that I start with my return as a stand-alone transaction to apply the credit from that as I see fit for my new goodies that I was initially excited to purchase. He questioned me and asked why and I tried to explain what I wrote above to which he responded “Sure guess it’s just going to be more work for me.” Another customer that he was simultaneously doing a trade in for heard that and we exchanged looks of confusion.
After the return I ask if the copy of Pokémon Scarlet I was purchasing was New or Preowned since the wrapping was removed. He said “That’s the last one we had and trust me no one has used it.” I come to find out later that the copy had remnants of a preowned sticker on it and the price on my receipt reflected that as well. This part is my fault but there weren’t other copies available at other gamestops and there was no one else working the shift to help me me figure it out.
During the transaction that included my trade in I forgot to mention that I had 2 $5 off coupons through my pro membership. He reacted poorly and started cracking his knuckles on the counter stating “Great! Now I have to start all over again.” and starts the process anew. I’m holding it all together and I apologized for the inconvenience and even thanked him for the normal things he was doing which upon reflection I should not have.
At the end I requested a new bag, something smaller than the bag I had on me that was a bit torn. He stated “Yea just waste more bags why don’t you.” My partner and I walked out of the store stating we would return in the AM to hopefully speak to someone about this.
If you made it this far I just want to note that I am not one to complain. I love customer service and the joy it can bring people with just simple acts of kindness. My heart hurt when I left the store. All I’ve worked in is customer service and this is the absolute worst experience I have ever had to go through. My partner saw it the customers in the store had to feel it and see it too. I think someone like this should not be working in retail and definitely not in a gaming store where the only purpose is to spread happiness and joy through a shared love of gaming...
Read moreGreeted and acknowledged as soon as I opened the door with a friendly hello. There were about 5-6 other customers in the store at the time which is a lot in my opinion. Sometimes I'm the only customer there. I knew exactly what I was their to purchase. It was the extra dlc for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Wii U. I have never purchased dlc before so I wasn't sure how to go about it or how to use it when I got home. The cashier was very friendly and answered all questions I had about the product. At the end of the transaction he offered me to purchase a membership. I declined however I was, in a way, happy that he asked because it showed me that he is dedicated to his job which I admire. With so many industries, especially retail, transitioning over to mostly on-line stores, I really hope that Gamestop continues to actually maintain a physical store/presence. When I visit a Gamestop that actually has a few other customers in it I observe that the cashiers are always friendly to everyone and very very knowledgeable about gaming. I wish I had more disposable income because I would definitely purchase a membership and spend more money and time there. Perhaps offer a discount on memberships a few times throughout the year. Anyway great experience. Will definitely return as it's the closest location to where I live and again the associates are always friendly...
Read moreHonestly giving a 1 star review because there is no lower score than that. The guy who initially took care of me put all my stuff apart and told me to go get another pre owned game that would be added for free due to a promotion, however, once I came back with said game, what was put aside for me (a controller and 3 other games) was gone. He had me waiting for almost 1 hour in the store while he was trying to figure out what happened with the items. After a long time of "looking around" and "looking at the cameras" he came back and said honestly one of the most hilarious phrases I have ever heard and quote: "I looked at the cameras and it seems like I gave the product to another client by mistake but that didn't seem right to me". He went back to the back store room; store was already closed and at this point I just wanted to leave. One of the other guys took care of what I was able to get since most of the stuff I wanted originally was last Item and therefore they didn't had it in stock anymore. Long story short, I left the store without the products I went looking for and in the rush I got that 3rd pre owned game without any promotion which I didn't even want in the first place. Honestly I wish I could state the guy's name in here but I didn't get it, but at least I can say he either was the manager or was...
