Terrible communication. PennTeleData bills are confusing and their business practices are very customer unfriendly.
PennTeleData charged my business for three years of telephone services, because of an early termination fee in our contract. We had just moved into a facility one month before it was closed due to the pandemic. Keeping a location open we could not use was just not an option for us. We attempted to get PennTeleDatato discuss the charge given the circumstances. They would not. They also would not give us the name or contact information for someone to escalate to. So they want us to pay for $2000 worth of phone charges that we will never use. Further they have not shown us the courtesy of at least discussing the matter. They told us that they would give us $100 back for returning their equipment. They are required to do that anyway.
We had to use PennTeleData at the facility we moved our business to. When we started using PennTeleData they kept sending updated contracts online via email. Anyone who runs a small business knows that you get very busy and following changes in contracts is difficult to impossible. And the PennTeleData online contracts are confusing. which feels deliberate.
If you can avoid it don't use PennTeleData. At least for small business, it seems the goal of PennTeleData is only to drive revenue and they care nothing for their customers.
Also, we contacted the PennTeleData facebook site for customer support. They said they would have someone call me. We never received a call.
This is the only review like this I have ever written.I make it a point not to be negative about companies or people in a public forum. But for PennTeleData I have decided to make...
Read moreSince I only do volunteer work, I just put up with PTD's poor service as an annoyance, but if I were in a business, I would be OUT of business if I relied on PTD for anything really important. I often have had problems in trying to compose an email and trying to send it. I see a message saying "there was a problem" and then the whole system freezes---I can't close anything, open anything, or even sign out. I have to turn the computer off and then try again to open the site, only then find multiple iterations of the same email in my "Drafts" folder (anywhere from a couple to one time when there were 30 versions of the same draft email)! I am also unable to receive emails sent to me through another address with my volunteer organization. Our tech people assure me that the problem is on PTD's end, and they are probably correct since G-Mail has no problem in having these emails transferred to their individual addresses. When I called PTD customer service, they were not helpful, telling me the problem was on our end. Again, I checked with our tech staff and they said it was not and they referred me to the website PTD was sending me for information on the rejected emails. The information on that site hadn't been updated in 6 months to one year!! A person with whom I correspond regularly has all their emails going immediately to the "Spam" folder, even though I have listed that person's email address under "Trusted Addresses." And fairly recently, when PTD revamped their email service, they wiped out all my contacts. In short, if you rely on an email server for your livelihood, do...
Read moreMy parents have used their service for what I’m going to assume has been at least 4-5 years and every single one of those years has been absolutely painstakingly terrible when it comes to internet. We have had someone out to “fix” our “connection” several times, but that just resulted in a few new cables, sometimes a new modem (which never improved anything), and overall nothing of actual improvement. I decided to write this review now (using my mobile data) because the speeds for the last 4 days have been in the ballpark of 0.01 mbps to 0.6 Mbps (those were the good speeds). I’m now sitting on a connection that is either so small it isn’t traceable or none at all (my router says there is a connection but none of my devices can find one). We also have lost our HD Tv channels. Before these abismal speeds started becoming the norm, we still only got AT MOST 3 mbps on a wired connection and 1.5 Mbps wireless. Ookla speed test claimed I was getting 20 mbps but when downloading a game from steam I was disappointed to see that it NEVER ONCE peaked 3 mbps. Overall, HORRIBLE service, bad customer support, and a total waste of money. I’m going to be even more upset if I find out that we aren’t able to switch providers due to the fact that PA has almost no internet providers and PTD is the only one who covers about half the state. Wish I could give 0.5 stars, and that .5 is only because when hosting games or streaming, the connection didn’t drop every 30 seconds, so although terribly slow, it was consistent at...
