Worried resident!
As a resident who takes great pride in living in Palmetto, I am writing to address concerns regarding the lack of transparency surrounding our electricity bills and billing practices.
Recently, I have observed a significant increase in my electricity bills, with successive months showing a notable rise in charges. The absence of a physical meter reader and reliance on estimated bills have raised uncertainties and questions about the accuracy of the billing process. Despite my attempts to seek clarification and understanding by reaching out to your office, I have encountered challenges in connecting with a responsive representative and obtaining consistent information.
The lack of clear communication and differing narratives provided by various individuals within your organization have contributed to a sense of confusion and frustration among residents, including myself. In striving for accountability and trustworthiness, it is essential for the City of Palmetto to prioritize transparency and provide residents with comprehensive details on how utility funds are managed and utilized.
I respectfully request that the City of Palmetto enhance transparency in its operations by disclosing detailed records and explanations regarding the handling of electricity bills. Additionally, I urge the city to ensure that residents receive accurate and consistent information to foster trust and confidence in the billing process.
By fostering a culture of openness and accountability, the City of Palmetto can strengthen its relationship with residents and uphold the values of integrity and transparency that are integral to effective governance and community trust.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to a transparent and informative response that addresses the concerns raised regarding electricity billing practices in Palmetto.

Read moreI wish there was a way to rate with zero stars. To be fair, the employees at city hall have nothing to do with the regulations and policies of the utility company. It is a travesty that the residents of this small burb of Atlanta do not even have 30 days to pay your bill. Even worse, we receive our bill usually around say, the 4th day of the month. If we do not pay the bill in full by the 15th, we are penalized with a surcharge on top of our bill.
That's right, so we have less than two weeks to pay the bill or else you we are charged somewhere around 10% more! Cut off day to pay the bill in full is the 22nd of the month. So yes, we are looking at around 18 days to pay your utility bill. If by chance you forget (there is no automatic bill pay) and you pay on the 22nd, we better do it before 8 AM on the 22nd, or they charge us an additional $30 on top of the 10% additional payment we are charged for not paying your bill by the 15th of the month. If we fail to pay our bill on the 22nd, on the 23rd, our utilities are cut off. This is simply, UNACCEPTABLE! We now have a warehouse on every corner, bringing in customers, workers and everyone else into this small city, yet the citizens are held to unrealistic standards regarding paying their utility bills.
Finally, and probably worse of all, if our utilities get cut off on a Friday and it's after 4:30, we are arse out regarding paying our bill to get them turned back on. And do not even think about paying online. Should be simple right? Oh yes, it's simple enough, but it's not free. Make this make sense. Paying your utilities online should be FREE! But no, instead you pay a fee based on the amount of your...
Read moreMe and my family signed a lease and we went to switch utilities to our name. We paid a $550 deposit for utility switch to our name at palmetto city hall on Friday. We Came home after 6 pm on Friday and the electricity and water is completely shut off and not working whereas it was on before we went and paid for the name switch. We Called the after hours emergency utility number listed which is Fulton county emergency services phone number. They said there is nothing they can do. I guess we have to go Friday Saturday Sunday and Monday this weekend without working electricity or water (Monday is Columbus Day) before we can go to city hall tuesday morning with the issue of not receiving the services for which we paid the deposit for. Hopefully they can fix the issue as soon as possible as I will now have to get my family a hotel until we have working...
