Dollar General — Local services in Palmetto

This store is really close to my house and that's the main reason I like it but I do have a very difficult time going in this location and finding what I need but they do have all new staff at this point so I could very easily be changing my review same but I'm the kind of person, I need to see a difference over the course of at least a couple of months to know that it's not just a one visit thing. There were issues in the past where the staff was more than rude but even though I did not like that, they wouldn't have the cigarettes that I smoked or the girl wouldn't look to see and the other area where they keep in and she's no longer there so that already makes a difference but I do know they have on a staff at this point which I just found out last week so we will see if it stays good and if they can stay stocked up on the items that I go in for because it's very frustrating to go in here and then not have what I need and it can be the smallest thing like children's Imodium. There's a slot for it but it wasn't there, time before that they were out of whatever I went for a bit I can't remember right now. I just remember thinking like three times in a row, okay this is getting to a point where they never have what I need so there's no point in even coming here anymore. There are already more expensive than Walmart because of the convenience but I'm willing to pay a little extra if I need a pack of diapers or something because by the time I drive to Walmart, I'm going to spend it in gas anyway. Diapers, that was another thing that they never had. I always needed either a size 5 or a size 6 and for some reason, they never had it in any brand, not even their brand so it was super frustrating because that's something I had to have right away and thankfully Family Dollar is down the road but I don't like going that far and they are a little bit higher than Dollar General. I do think things will change for the better which is why I rated 3 stars...

This location is so close to my house and I really like to be able to go here but I find myself staring clear and going to Piggly Wiggly or Family Dollar because this particular Dollar General can't seem to find employees, 2 in particular, that are respectful. There's a girl that works here by the name of Ashley and she has told me 2x in a row that they don't have my cigarettes so I walked over and looked, found them right away. The 2nd time she said they didn't have em, I told her to look in the cabinet by the cash register that they keep locked and there was some in there so that was 2 separate times that she almost sent me away, to another store, out of my way because she's lazy and she doesn't do her job and even started arguing with me when I finally said something about it because I told her, if she doesn't enjoy her job and isn't going to give it 100% that she needs to find another job! I called corporate, never heard anything back. There's a very nice older, black man that works in there and I believe he's a manager and he's very sweet and does his job! But she is so horrible, as well as another manager named Michael, he's a younger black man and he is just very rude, he doesn't acknowledge that you're there, he just has a very unpleasant attitude about him. I see him laughing and cutting up sometimes with the other employees but for some reason when I come in there, he just has an attitude. They haven't new, younger black guy as well as a younger black female and she has a hurt foot, I don't know their names but they're very nice. I'm hoping that the one girl is not there anymore, Ashley, I'll start going there more often but it's also the fact that there have been a few times that they really did not have my cigarettes so that's a...

I will never again visit this store I always purpose to patronize local business first. But this is one business in Palmetto Georgia that I will never frequent again. Today was the third visit as I was hoping the first two were out of the norm. So my remarks concerning this business are based on three visits that were exactly the same. Rude staff, rude customers, or vulgar language by the staff, extreme disorganization and extensive wait time. Wait time does not bother me. I had just left Bojangles and waited 30 minutes for my food but they were so kind and so pleasant I’d have waited an hour before I went to another restaurant.
