I grew up with Eddie, the owner. I took my work computer in to get it cloned to a new computer. When they called to tell me my computer was done, never said a word about the computer I brought in to be cloned not working anymore. They didn’t tell me when I walked in and sat down and they brought the computers over and turned on the new one. I just happened to turn it on when I was sitting there because none of my programs were on my new computer. Then Ryan proceeded to accuse me of bringing it in not working, which it was my work computer, it worked when I brought it in there. Nick had turned it on. I never raised my voice, but then was yelled at by Ryan because I repeated that I had brought it in working and now it wasn’t. I use it for work. I asked to speak to Eddie. Ryan continued to be rude and yell and wasn’t going to get Eddie until I told him I grew up with Eddie. He finally went and got Eddie. Eddie proceeded to yell at me after getting very irritated that I didn’t want to bring my only other working computer in there after I told him I couldn’t afford for something to happen to that one. I told him to quit yelling at me. He kept asking me what he could do, but the yelling and the fact that they didn’t tell me that my computer was completely broken in the first place caught me off guard. He ended up storming out. Ryan stormed out. I got home to find that it looks like my work computer hadn’t been backed up. I am just at a loss to think a fellow small business owner would yell at a customer who was just trying to figure out why my computer that I brought in working and now was no longer working, and they didn’t bother to tell me, would act in such an unprofessional manner. Not to mention that he let’s his employee yell at a customer. Now I am left with a broken computer and a new computer that they wiped out Windows 11 on and put none of my programs on. That was my experience. Hopefully, they never treat anyone else like that. Just to respond to Eddie. I did bring my computers to you for years. You all eventually got the programs on. Not sure what you’re talking about there. You had someone call and offer to make it right. That’s all right.
The parts I didn’t appreciate was not telling me that my computer wasn’t working when I got there or when you all called and said it was done. The only way I knew was turning it on there to show you all what I needed on my new computer. I left a list of the four or five things I needed. All you had to do was call me and tell me you couldn’t get them on there, and I would have been glad to help you when I got there like I had done for years. Then Ryan saying that I brought it in broken and asking if you all had turned it on when I dropped it off, which you had. You did get some stuff on the new computer, I guess before it crashed or whatever. You said that happens. I can understand that. What I don’t understand is not being told that. You all lost everything on my work computer, but you didn’t hear me yelling at you. So...
Read moreI really, really love this places style and service. I bought my first PC here and im still using it to this day with no issues, although recently I bought a laptop from them. (Id like to preface this by saying they called me back, and made it right very quickly they offered me a trade in for a laptop as close as possible in quality, and kicked back the remainder I spent, the manger called and was super nice. And i am a really cheap geeks fan all the way. RCG Forever!!!!) The laptop was one of the biggest tech purchases I had ever made and I was excited to see how great it was going to be, the service was quick and I was in and out in less than 15 minutes with a laptop last week just before close. Unfortunately by the time I had gotten home, I had already noticed that one of the keys was broken, not springing up when pressed or staying attached to the board. After a few days I was finally able to get to the store right before close once again (sorry about that), and ask about a repair, they said it would be an easy fix and the only reason they couldn't do it immediately was because they were soon to close, but they would call me Monday to pick it up. By Tuesday I felt the need to check in and see how it was going, so I call to see where they were at in the process and ask about when it may be ready. They tell me that there's an issue with the hardware that needs to be replaced and they were working on getting me an estimate, I think I am understandably a bit upset that the laptop I had just purchased less than a week ago, and not even had time to log in on or use, may be costing me money in repairs. This latest call just happened, and im hopeful that the estimate will be low enough that I can just brush it off and continue loving this place. But I am worried that I may not feel comfortable shopping or recommending Really Cheap Geeks to others anymore. I did love the robot on the shelf though, so thats three stars from me (as stated early they made everything right, and i am a really cheap geeks fan...
Read moreCurrently in the middle of arguing with them over my wife's cell phone. Took it to them for a repair to screen. Initially the new screen they put in was defective. Took it back to them today. They fixed screen but unlocked my wife's phone without her ok, changed her wallpaper, removed her sim card (which there was no reason to do) and put in someone else's sim card. We did not figure this out until her cell phone company was already closed. Sent a message to company on facebook, was told they would be more than happy to return the old sim card (which we won't use due to how easy that is to hack) but there would be no refund of any sort due to me having to fix THEIR screw up. I used to send a lot of business their way through my work. That ends today.
Edit: went to business to ask for them for sim card today. They denied that they made an error (after admitting it last night) and regardless of what I tried to say he just kept insisting it was not anything on their end. He did not even double check with me in store. He finally ended up leaning over counter to scream in my face to get out of his store like a toddler...
