BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! Edit: The company responded below asking if we contacted the carrier for insurance claim - but Contempt Space told them NOT TO PAY OUR CLAIM. That's right; we got notification that they told the carrier to not pay us. Also, the carrier said the unit was not packaged properly, so the company is trying to push blame on the carrier. We had to go through hours of proving our case in a chargeback, and also had an attorney ready to file a lawsuit. The chargeback was determined in our favor and the merchant found Contempo Space lied in their response to the merchant (they said we never returned the item and we still had it, then they said it was still waiting to be delivered). Since we got our money returned through the charge back, we did not file suit.
Original review: We ordered a unit and we were GIVEN by THEM their "preferred" shipper's information to deliver via "blanket wrap" to our home. After months of being built, we received the unit completely damaged and unusable. ALL of the glass doors were cracked, the particle board had gouges under the top unit, chips and broken wood on the sides, and they didn't even send enough door handles and spacers. THEY NOW SAY WE "CHOSE THE SHIPPER" AND NEED TO DEAL WITH THE SHIPPER to file an insurance claim; THEY WON'T GIVE US A REFUND BECAUSE IT WAS SENT "IN PERFECT CONDITION." The shipper states it wasn't packaged properly. Contempo Space's "return policy" is VOID when a damaged product is sent and they have no proof the wood wasn't sent damaged, trying to place blame elsewhere. Clearly, by other reviews we are now reading, they make a poor-quality product and send damaged goods. Leaving a consumer to not get a refund of thousands of dollars? Not happening. I urge anyone who has had poor outcomes with them to file a BBB complaint, as will we. This company is a scam - they take your money, then don't honor a refund when they send damaged items, and blame it on the shipper. They say they took pics of our order before it shipped. The couple of pictures they sent to me showing it "at pickup" look good, but it ONLY shows part of the glass front, not the wood or the inside. NEVER have we had blanket wrap service be delivered with shattered glass; clearly showing how cheap the glass is. It did not look tempered at all, it was very cheap. We are now starting a legal filing. Below is just 2 of several pictures we took of the damaged unit at delivery.
Here is their policy: "This order has been sold “FOB Factory " and as such is considered complete once the has been inspected aby the carrier and the pickup has been made, loaded, or has left our shipping area. The individual customer or organization buying the goods has made all contract arrangements with the carrier for “Blanket Wrap In Home Delivery and Set Up” is responsible for all freight costs to include all risk transit insurance and the cost of services to be performed. Contempo Space will not honor any non-warranty claims for damage, breakage or consider any alleged claims of concealed damage."

Read moreI just do not feel this product is worthy of the cost. The material is very cheap melamine covered particle board--exactly the same as you'd get at IKEA and the like. Although they pretty it up with the glass fronts (which I really like and are the only saving grace here), ultimately I could have gone to Lowes and put together something almost identical to this for about 1/4 of the price, and that's just...not good. My girlfriend and I took and hour and a half trip from Queens to visit the showroom. We ran in the rain to make sure we were able to get there in time before closing. When we got in, we spent close to 10 minutes asking if anyone was there. Moments later Gary Flax appears, sitting behind his desk and gives the appearance of not wanting to assist. My girlfriend asked him questions about the closets to which he responded with a rude and condescending tone, then walks away as she’s asking him a question and says “I don’t understand you.” We traveled nearly two hours out of our way and experienced the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.
