Benson's Appliance, Sales and Repair Service — Local services in Pekin

I was lucky enough to have my grandfather come into Benson's to look for a dishwasher for me. He went in first was told a certain price, when we went back a sexist comment was made about how I am a dishwasher and he did not need to buy one. Do not get me wrong I can take a joke, but not in a place of business. As the purchasing process continued the Sales manager continued to rant about how children cannot fend for themselves, this was because as my Christmas present my grandfather was purchasing for me, then another couple was helping their daughter buy a washer and dryer because she was a single mother of three. This rant continued for 10 minutes. I should have walked out but I am a firm believer in purchasing from small business. The item we looked at was stainless steel and when that was the one I wanted I was told it would be an additional $100 but he would meet me in the middle and charge an extra $50, not to mention it would be the floor model with multiple scratches on it. We asked if the price could be knocked down to the original price of $600 and was told no. We left after purchasing and the comments continued to bother me. But the delivery was free and did not want to pay the additional for set-up when we could figure it out on our own. At delivery, the delivery drivers would not even set it in my house, they said "bosses orders" and sat it on my porch, forcing my husband and I to carry it in ourselves. My grandfather heard this and went down to the store to ask why, they said they would get back to him and have yet to do so. Luckily it was light. I am giving them 2 stars because the buying process was easy, when in reality they should have only got 1 star. While I love the product and fully support local businesses, I WILL NEVER BUY...

I have used Benson's twice for service/repair and feel they are MORE than deserving of a great review. Recently, my French Door Maytag Refrigerator went down ... I called Benson's on a Sunday, they called me back Monday and were here that day ... returning the next day with required board to repair. JEFF was my repairman and he was just fabulous. Thankfully, my appliance is "up and running" again. Thank you, Jeff !

We are all so eager to complain...and we need to take the time to say a simple "thank you" when a service tech like Jeff and a company like Benson's gives great customer service ... proving it is NOT a "lost art". I will make it a mission to tell all those I can that if you need appliance repair, this is a company ... and JEFF, as well as Nick, are technicians that you can count on to give you the customer service you should receive.

I seldom see a company like this, with unmatched customer service ... with technicians I honestly LIKE and am happy to count on and thankful for. Hope you'll keep this company in mind after reading this review when you have a problem with an appliance.

I have an old portable dishwasher that I bought used on Facebook marketplace, well unfortunately every time I wash my dishes there’s always an extremely bad white film left over. I went into Bensons with the mindset of buying a new portable dishwasher which was priced at almost $800. I explained the issues that I was having and they suggested that i first try using Lemi Shine dish detergent booster, because Pekin water is so hard. I took there advice and now I have clean film free dishes. They could of told me that I definitely need a new dishwasher but they were honest. So thank you for the great advice, and thank you for...
