I have been coming to this store to buy comics off and on since I was 16. I am now 30, and nothing has changed in this store or with its owner in 14 years. I gave this place another shot over and over again and ignored the way I was treated inside, but I’ve finally decided that enough is enough.
I learned early on to always take a male friend with me if I wanted to be treated somewhat fairly and not be patronized when I asked questions. The owner sure does seem like he’s going to be nice, but if you share more than a few sentences with him, he always shows his true colors. When I have gone to pick things up from my pull box, there always seemed to be extra items in it that I did not ask for- when I ask for those to be put back and just to purchase my orders, he always has something to say about it- usually along the lines of “you don’t know what you’re looking for” or “you clearly don’t understand what I’m trying to do for you”. On my most recent visit with my husband, I finally had enough. While my husband was pulling out his wallet to make a purchase the owner said “how about you actually make yourself useful” and tossed the comics at me that we were purchasing. I almost lost it…

I came to Legion because Kingdom closed. Already frustrated by the drive from Calera, I arrived to find that they were sold out of my book. I was upset, but understanding. Kingdom warned NOBODY and their competition didn’t know to order enough books for their “refugees” (as one clerk called us.)
But the owner could sense I was upset and wanted to make it right, and after informing me that they were opening a second location in a month that would be a better drive, he pulled his own copy from his pile and sold it to me.
I felt welcome and wanted, which isn’t always the case as a woman in the nerd community. Another store in the area always makes me feel like an outsider when I have to go in there. This started off stressful, but I’ll be coming back. I’m on the...

I think if you know what youre getting yourself into, this shop is fantastic. This is the first shop I went to and the only comic shop that I regularly visit. The shop is very cluttered and could use some cleaning/organization, there is 0 denying that. In fact, I think if clutter is a dealbreaker/large annoyance for you, this isnt the shop for you. However, the selection is absolutely incredible, the pricing has always been great and Paul has always been pleasant with me. He's been able to get me any comic I request and has been happy to do so. I have never minded the drawbacks because the positives far outweigh them for me.
Visit them sometime! In the worst case scenario you'll still see...
