Fareway Meat and Grocery — Local services in Pella

Not the most modern looking store, but by far the best as far as customer service. They have a great meat department. They prepare Meats anyway you want them or have them available for you to choose from. I have never been disappointed by their meats and have compared them with other stores in the area and taste-wise, they are terrific. They also wrap meat really nicely in plastic and then paper so that if you freeze it, thawing it out won't make a bloody mess.

One of the things I love about Fareway is that when the other stores have a sale, they will match the sale for you without you having to prove the sale. I cannot say the same for the other grocery store in town. They require that you prove the price at Fareway. So I can read all the sale Flyers and then head off to Fairway knowing I will get all the sale prices.

I have celiac disease and have to adhere to the gluten intolerant diet and they have plenty of products which support me. However, their prices do not reflect the best prices in town. Unfortunately, I feel I need to shop at the other store to get the best price. I can save as much as a dollar fifty on the bread. So when they lower their prices I will buy my bread from them too.

Their organic produce is not very varied yet but they are improving.

They always take your groceries out to the car. Even if you only have one bag they carry it for you unless you insist to do it.

The last thing I want to say that is a positive for me, but perhaps not so important for other people, is that they close on Sundays honoring the Sabbath day plus they close on holidays to give their employees time off. This says alot to the ownership of the store. I am very grateful for this aspect and for this one reason I have kept shopping here for the 10 years I've...

This concerns the meat department. My husband and I were waiting to order something and we stood there and not one person asked us if we needed help. One guy helped someone who came up after us and took her order why he ignored us. We came close to just walking away. That was so rude to just leave us standing there as long as those men did and not even asked for our order. I will not go to that meat department again.
