Extremely conveniently located grocery store, with a large range of reasonably priced items (do get the rewards card, though). The layout can be a little confusing, the bread/muffins and peanut butter section is on the complete opposite end of the store from the "bakery," which sells "fresh" breads and doughnuts.
One very large complaint, though. The only bread this store sold that I was willing to consume (no preservatives or bleached flour, etc.), Stonefire's naan, which was sold for $3.50, hasn't been in stock for the past two months. I requested that the manager of the bakery section order more a month ago, I check every time I go in, and nothing. So now if I want naan (which I do, it's very delicious), I have to go to the Lititz Weis, which sells Stonefire's naan to all the middle class hipsters for $4.50. A dollar markup is quite a lot for me. Balancing trying to be healthy with making sure I eat (I have a default of being underweight), while staying within my budget (we need more affordable housing), is hard enough as it is. The extra roadblock is no small dragon. To have finally found a bread that tastes delicious and that I don't have to feel guilty about eating, only for it to be snatched away with no warning, really does trigger my anxiety.
Also, the employee's seems pretty miserable every time I go in, but that's because they're working retail for not enough money to pay rent as owned by a large corporation. My heart goes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWeis has changed since pre covid days. Drastically reduced staff present at any given moment. Gone are the team of local and quirky checkout clerks, almost all lanes are self service now. There used to be someone at the customer service desk at all times to help with the odd question, two people during the day. Now, there's one person who is only there during peak hours, otherwise, it's closed and you're on your own if you have any issues. The energy in the store is different, more like a skeleton crew. They still have some employees who clearly really care about doing a great job, decent produce, some organic and natural foods, and the store is kept clean. And they have longer open hours than another local store, which is convenient. But I miss when more money and effort was being funneled to the Doe Run...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdated: 1-star - Visited Weis on Saturday (12/19/2021) around 4-4:30... Entered the store to 2 men in the back, by the bakery, screaming at each other. I'm sure the whole store could hear them. None of the store employees bothered to do anything. I saw one employee run away from the situation. On to of that, at least half of the employees were not wearing their masks correctly. A good 25% of the customers didn't even have masks in. I even saw a customer turn to his kid and say "oh, this is a man's store?" and then removed his mask. I couldn't wait to get out of there.
Older review: 3-star - Limited cold options up front. Still have to go all the way to the back corner just to get milk... Not as many options as other chains. Staff is friendly...
