I bought a challenger scat pack from this place back in early July. I spoke with the sales guy Bill about it over the phone before taking the 4+ hour drive down there from CT. Bill assured me the car was in great shape etc, when I asked him about their firmness on the price he told me they’d rather I came down and saw the car, making sure I liked it and then we discuss the price. I agreed as I would like to do the same. I was approved on the car given over the phone, Bill also spit out some numbers for me so I’d know about where I’d be given the price it was listed for. Nothing was supposed to be set in stone yet.
Myself and my wife drove down to Pointe the very next morning to buy the car. When we got there they had the whole deal set and printed out with the asking price, all I really had to do was sign. When I had explained mine and Bill's conversation to the sales guy, he went and spoke with John, the GM, about the price. John came over and told us that their firm on the price and I can basically take it or leave it, knowing we just drove FOUR HOURS to get there, I’m pretty sure he knew we weren’t going home empty handed. He was right, we bought the car, at the full asking price. The car also was not cleaned or ready for me to drive away with it. We sat around and waited an hour and a half for their “detailers” to do a half assed job cleaning it.
Since we live in another state and NJ has this annoying law that the car has to registered in NJ, they sent me home on a 30 day temp plate and told me mine would come in in the mail within a few weeks. Three weeks later I got a call from the dealer asking me if I’d done the emissions yet. I was never made aware that I had to do emissions, and send proof of that to them to get my plates. Did the emissions that night, sent them the proof of it. Called them the next day asking if I could be compensated in some way for the car now sitting in my driveway for a couple weeks, undriveable, while I continued to wait for my plates. They basically told me to F off and they weren’t going to anything for me.
During all of this, less than a month into ownership the battery died on me and I was stuck at work one night. The battery was 9 years old, original to the car. I called and asked if they’d help out as the battery should have been changed before they sold it to anyway. Again, I was indirectly told to F off and it wasn’t their fault/ problem.
The only reason they’re not getting 1 star is that I do actually like the car, and am for the most part happy with it. Aside from it also needing rotors now as it pulsates a lot when I go to break. They also told me they didn’t breaks when they took it in. I’m assuming they only changed the pads. As a dealer, they should know better; same with the battery.
I would strongly advise you look elsewhere and don’t waste your time...
Read moreTop notch used-car buying experience from one of the few remaining small mom-and-pop dealerships. Our salesman, Bill, was excellent from our first call through the time that we left with our new (to us) vehicle. Bill was very informative and patient with no pressure whatsoever. The same was true for Jeff and also Tom in Finance. We got to meet Larry, the owner, who was very personable. It seems that the friendly, comfortable, low-pressure atmosphere stretches from top to bottom. Everyone was fantastic. Great people.
We bought one of their certified vehicles at a very fair price, and they gave us more than we expected for our trade. Their truck had been leased, not a rental, and looked almost as good as new. There were no sales games. There was no pressure to buy any add-ons. This was about as straight forward as it could get. When my wife and I wanted to be alone to talk through what we wanted to do, they had no problem with it. No hurry. We were able to take as much time as we wanted.
It was helpful that everyone knew their stuff. Bill was able to explain to us everything we needed to know about our truck. They actually showed us how their truck compared to similar ones available elsewhere right up front, showing their price to be competetive. (Actually, we already knew of the other ones for sale, and we came to Pointe first because this truck seemed like it would be a good fit for us at a good price.) They printed the Car Fax for us, which also was available online. While explaining the details of the certified program to us, Tom made clear that the duration of the powertrain coverage also includes GM Roadside Assistance, should we need it, as part of the 6 yr / 100k miles. Flat tire? Run out of gas? Need to be towed? He showed us right in the booklet, all covered. ... until it hits the end of its sixth year or 100k miles. Nice! I'm sure that I'm missing more.
Though they're a small dealership, we liked that they had a great selection of cars and trucks to choose from. We're from Pennsylvania, but they're just a very short drive from the Commodore Barry bridge. They already knew what they needed to do to sell us our truck and get it registered in PA. In fact, they even took it to PA to have it inspected and stickered for us, which went quicker than we expected. Jeff even offered to cover our lunch while we waited. (BTW, Bill recommended a place nearby called Roman Pantry which was excellent.) If you're also in Pennsylvania, don't hesitate to make the short drive.
We love our new truck. We actually enjoyed the experience with the people at Pointe. How many times can you say that about buying a car? We'd go back for another car or truck in a moment. ...
Read moreSHADY- I was driving 6 hours to buy a Tesla with trade. Told them I wanted to have numbers set for the most part so I could drive down and drive away with the new one. Spoke to Jenneha at first, which then kicked it over to Mandy and finished with Tyler. I provided the info on my trade and was told I would get payoff $9300 and then $2700 used towards down payment. I placed a deposit over the phone and set a time to come down to pick up the car. I noticed that the Carfax showed an accident, but on Cargurus, which uses Autocheck, it showed “structural damage.” When I questioned them, they said that they hadn’t heard of Autocheck. When I arrived at the dealership 2 days later after driving 6 hours the car had not been cleaned or detailed, the battery was not charged, and none of the paperwork was done. I sat there for 2 hours until the paperwork was ready. At that point they had me signing papers for my trade and purchase agreement. Once I got to the page with numbers, they had my trade listed at $7000. This was never brought up, never talked about, and luckily I was paying attention to what I was signing! I asked Tyler and he said “oh it looks like that’s what you are getting for your trade” and I said “no, it was supposed to be payoff, and 2700 of equity as down payment.” He brought the general manager over who said "I told Mandy it could be up to 12, but its not worth that. It was in an accident and now I can’t sell it as certified” I said “that was not communicated through Mandy, is she here? and why didn’t you run the Carfax before I drove 6 hours down here” and he said “well I can’t run the VIN if I don’t have the car here and Mandy just works from home as my BBC sales over the phone” which is garbage, anyone can run a carfax. They never went into my car, put it on a lift, drove it, or anything for the “appraisal.” The manager says “your car is only going for $10k retail.” I responded with “why wasn’t that said to me 2 days ago before I committed to driving 6 hours down here!” I believe they figured I drove all that way to buy a car that I would give in to the bait and switch. Well, I drove 6 hours home in my old car. Definitely would not recommend anyone going to this dealership. ** since then, sold car to carmax for 13k. This...
