I had taken my shih-tzu to be groomed a little over a month ago. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Until a few weeks after I noticed she kept scratching at the side of her face and had drainage on her fur. She also seemed like she didn't feel well at times. I finally happened to look under her ear close to her eye and saw a short, deep, straight cut. It was well to the dermis with the yellow fatty tissue visible. There is no way she could have done that to herself. She is an inside dog so nothing else could have caused that with injuring her ear also because it pretty much lies on top of it. I had to take her to the clinic, trying to figure it what could have caused it, and because it was not healing. I had to pay $137 for her visit. And I had to come back a week later to ask for a collar to keep her from scratching at it, because it still wasn't healing and it was still draining. Even i told them she was scratching at it. I'm not sure if they only have one groomer, but when I first started bringing her she had growled at the groomer when she picked her up to hand her to me. And she has NEVER growled at anyone before or after. I just feel like I was done wrong and so that is why I'm posting this. Its been 49 days and the wound has not closed up yet, although it's getting better now that she is wearing the collar. It should have received a stitch or something when...
Read more7/21/2020. I dropped off my dog Lucy for a scheduled teeth cleaning at 8 am at Petal Animal Clinic, as instructed by a confirmation email. Lucy suffers from separation anxiety when she is left in a strange place and so I put her in her Thunder Jacket with calming spray to ease her anxiety. I explained the jacket to the person who took Lucy at the desk. At 3:30 pm I had heard nothing from the clinic and so I called to see if Lucy was ready to come home. I was told that Lucy had just been put to sleep in preparation for the cleaning. Shocked, I asked why they were just starting the procedure. I was told that the clinic had been extremely busy. I asked why they had not called to tell me this. I could have gotten her and rescheduled her appointment. Answer. They were very busy. I received a call to pick up Lucy at 5:30 pm. Just before closing at 6 pm, someone brought Lucy out to me. She was staggering with her tail locked down between her legs and she barely reacted to me. She looked traumatized. I was furious. She had spent almost 10 hours confined to a cage without water (after a night’s fast) in an environment that was very stressful to her. I paid the bill which, by the way, was more than I pay for my own dental care. I WILL NEVER AGAIN TRUST PETAL ANIMAL CLINIC WITH THE...
Read moreSo on Monday, I bring my dog to this vet since the one I usually is in another county, my dog was really sick and needed help, instead of antibiotics, we were told surgery was the answer for our dog. The cost was outrageous high, I felt like my husband wasn't told any options but when it was my decision which killed me was to get our dog the treatment, I was told, surgery monthly payments, euthanasia, or put it up for adoption, well with a heavy heart, I decided to put it up for adoption not for selfish reasons but because the dog deserved a chance. I couldn't bear to euthanasia a dog that could be saved but I couldn't pay for the treatment. I cried so much because my family loves this dog. I told my dog that someone else will make sure that it is given a great home and fun with kids and I love it and would miss it. My husband and I are grateful that our dog was saved by someone who we hope would take care of it and love it and know that we did the right thing by putting our dog up for adoption than to end the life of an innocent sweetheart. Whoever adopted her thank you so much for saving her, we all miss Lucky so much and hope she has a...
