I was 2 weeks away from completing this program when I got a write-up for Wearing the wrong color of scrub which ultimately caused my termination. The write-ups I received prior were straight up false and I felt like I was forced into signing these write-ups (not physically but mentally.) I felt belittled & threatened because if i didn't sign the first write up I ever received which was for ( Not wearing a school pride shirt on a Friday) I would've been dropped from the program. I felt like I had no choice but to sing these write-ups, thinking to myself, "Ok, I'll just sign even though I feel this is wrong & unjust & move on to my STUDIES which is what matters most! I'll avoid future problems" or so I believed not knowing that I'd be persecuted further. This is why I say persecuted, because in all honestly that's how it felt like. Let me start off by describing my write ups. 1st Write-Up : not wearing a owl pride shirt on a Friday. I was NOT ONLY WRITTEN UP BUT SENT HOME!! Here's the EVEN MORE INTERESTING PART, After I questioned the DON why I was the only one being castigated with a write-Up when there was plenty of other students violating her policy. she responded by stating that I cannot assume about other students because I don't know what's on their personal files. True. HOWEVER, why were those students allowed to be in campus? WHY WAS I SENT HOME THAT MORNING AND HAVE HOURS DEDUCTED FROM MY ALLOWED 40hrs ? How is that fair? WHERE IS THE EQUALITY FOR THE STUDENTS ? IT GETS WORSE, the STUDENT POLICY MENTIONED NOTHING IN THE DRESS CODE SECTION ABOUT WEARING A SCHOOL PRIDE SHIRT Fridays. It wasn't until A MONTH LATER (MAY) when the DON decided to Email every student a copy of an ADDENDUM which included the new section about school pride shirts FRIDAYS! I WAS WRITTEN UP FOR SOMETHING WHICH WASNT IN THE POLICY YET! How UNETHICAL IS THIS? What kind of BUSINESS IS THIS? Where's the fairness & equality?
2nd write-Up: One morning , as I arrived to class & set down all my school materials I noticed I forgot my laptop, therefore I messaged my boyfriend BEFORE 8:30 AM to bring my laptop. I had my phone in my hand which I was setting down on my desk where I sat right across the door . The DON happens to walk in the classroom as I was setting my phone down in the table & clearly got extremely upset as she saw that. She went off on our entire class for having cell phones out. She called on me personally by name & a few others whom she caught with their phones out . She asked us to see her in her office during break. She went off lecturing us & THREATENING OUR ENTIRE CLASS by stating: "YOU KNOW I CAN HAVE YOU DROPPED JUST BY THE WAY YOU LOOK AT ME?"
Wait a minute, THATS A THREAT? How can a respected nurse such as herself EVER talk to her students (Whom she claimed us as her children) in this manner? Isn't that NEGATIVE REINFORCEMENT? If there is something I learned in my pediatrics class is that this type of strategy isn't effective and as a (Parent, Educator, Nurse) should have a system of Positive reinforcement to nurture and love and ultimately guide your offspring correctly.
She left Everyone appalled after that threat! I didn't hesitate to go see her first to resolve this misunderstanding with my phone as I was CLEARLY NOT USING IT AFTER 8:30 AM. And I remember this like it was yesterday!!! This woman gave me the most horrific stare as I walked into her office. She starred at me from head to toe as if I was NOTHING and in clear DISGUST! As soon as I walk in that's how I'm greeted , with a horrible look. It made me feel very belittled and hurt. "What have I ever done to this woman to have her look at me this way? Does she have something personal against me?" I thought to myself, Cause I've never ONCE disrespected her or any other staff members or classmates. I try to resolve the matter at hand explaining to her that I wasn't using the phone but I did however send a text to my boyfriend before 8:30AM asking for my laptop. Nonetheless she wrote me up "Using Cell Phone in...
Read moreIf you're considering this nursing school, Iâd strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. The environment here is more like high school than higher education. Students arenât treated like adults preparing for a demanding profession, but rather like teenagers who need to be micromanaged. Respect and professionalism from the staff are seriously lacking. Facilities are another huge issue â there are barely enough restrooms for the number of students, and study space is extremely limited. For a program that demands academic rigor, youâd expect at least the basic resources to support student success, but thatâs simply not the case. Professors are often unprofessional, and many are outright hostile when students ask for help or clarification. On top of that, thereâs a constant revolving door of new instructors who havenât mastered the material themselves, resulting in confusion, miscommunication, and inconsistent instruction. What they donât tell you is that administration is not there to support you â theyâre looking for any excuse to drop you. And when they do, they still keep your financial aid, while youâre left stuck with the student loans. Valladares plays the âniceâ act well, but she will find any small reason to remove you from the program. Despite promoting a front of Christian values, the reality is very different. Valladares herself has stated multiple times that she doesnât believe in God. The school shows no grace or compassion â even if you're just 10 days away from pinning, theyâll drop you on a âhe said, she saidâ basis with no investigation. Whatâs worse is that they profit from this system. After dropping you, theyâll offer you a chance to return â but only if you pay thousands of dollars. This isnât about education or student success. Itâs about making money. Think very carefully before enrolling here. This school is not designed to help students succeed â itâs designed to profit from...
Read moreThis post is to EXPOSE RGV Careers and their wrongdoings to students... Today, our family received a call from RGV Careers in reference to dropping my girlfriend from the nursing program due to ATTIRE (wearing the wrong color scrubs). Mind you, she only has 3 weeks to graduate and has been working so hard to balance her life as a MOTHER OF SIX CHILDREN WHILE MAINTAINING AN "A" AVERAGE in most of her courses. They expressed it was someone's license on the line because one individual had written many write-ups on her... We have been dealing with a staff member that has made our lives very difficult. My girlfriend has the grades to prove that she will be a successful nurse! Her goal is to help people in need by becoming an RN and to be able to care for her loved ones and children! The decision has harmed our entire family because of the expensive program prices and school loans (over $18k). She was only three weeks from graduating :( There are so many reasons why I feel that they made a poor decision, and only want an opportunity to voice how this particular staff member's unethical code of conduct just costed our family tremendously to the point where I cannot put an actual number on it. What breaks my heart even more is the fact that the decision negatively impacts the quality of life for her children. I try really hard to provide while she invests in her education, but man it's tough when a locally-owned institution operates with these values. God bless them and everybody, hope for change...
