I attended a kids birthday party down at the basement at Beehive at Bok building. The place is neat. Got a spacious room for play area and another decent size room for eating. The play area I feel is more gear towards tots and younger age kids. There is one slide, some baby and tots obstacle course equipments, some play pretend toys, etc. but no jungle gym for older kids. So if your party has more younger kids, this wouldnât be too bad of a place. My 4.7yo daughter and 9mos baby had fun. The owner leaves you with the entire facility and only come back when the party time is up.
I believe this place offers summer camp for kids and they do quite alot of arts and crafts because there were plenty of art supplies organized in one of the room.
Three down sides about this place: (1) You would think because this place is gear towards younger kids and even babies so the floor would be clean. Kids place usually are bare foot or with only socks on. The place looks clean but not the floor. The floor made my feet turned dark, thatâs how dirty is it. I hope the floor is not usually like this dirty. (2) Another down side would be parking. There is no parking lot or parking garage for you. It is street parking. And around the blocks are mostly 2hrs parking Monday thru Sunday. (3) Lastly would be you need to walk down 2 flight of stairs in order to go in. This is a kidsâ place so that is definitely inconvenient for those that bring strollers or people that has plenty of stuff to carry in, like for a party. I have to hold my 4yo down those stairs while my husband waited for my friend to help carry my 9mos old baby in the baby stroller down. I hope they do have another entrance that is more suitable and accessible for...
Read moreBeehive is a community hub in my neighborhood. Rachel, the owner, has done a magical job of evolving as pandemic habits shift. What started as a place where I spent many many hours socializing and playing pre-pandemic became a go-to spot for virtual schooling, which then evolved to summer camp (my daughter went and LOVED the art classes and the teachers) and now is a home for pupil pod (practice preschool), open community play, an after school program, and our neighborhood go-to spot for birthday parties. Rachel is an elementary education teacher herself and this is showcased in her thoughtful use of the space in beehive.
Adding a note 4/16/2024:
Their new bonus space is awesome! Itâs called âBeehive Upstairsâ and is on the second floor in a really fresh and open room with huge windows. Itâs kind of like a living room/play room that isnât at your house.
We just rented the space today with a group of other families with 6 year olds and toddler siblings (bc letâs be real nobody in Philly wants 6 families in their home at one time), and it was absolutely perfect. We used their projector setup to put on a movie for the kids and filled the floor with nuggets and pillows for the kids to lay on. Then the adults sat back on the couch and around the table a good 50 feet away from the kids and were able to have conversations and actually hang out (while being interrupted by toddlers⌠but luckily there were a ton of toddler friendly toys plus art supplies to keep them busy). Oh and extra bonus. There is a microwave across the hall so we got to make fresh popcorn for the kids. Itâs the perfect setup!
(Iâve also rented the space for coworking but thatâs another review for another time. But itâs also...
Read moreThis place is an amazing, clean and fun play space in the Bok Building. I had two of my sonâs birthday parties here. The play space is really a perfect size where kids have many options to play and parents can still keep a good eye of their little ones. There is also a crafts/eating area as well, where the adults typically hang. You can play music and bring in any food you want. The owner and staff are always so nice, and they are also very supportive of the community. I am a member of a community organization and Beehive donated the space for three hours so we could do a kiddie rave event for the community, which was a great success. They have open play hours as well and do their own cool events. I suggest checking their calendar on their website for events and open play time. Obviously I highly recommend for...
