Reading the reviews of the many people who HAVE to apply for benefits, I too am in the same situation. My benefits have been terminated because the Welfare office decided to send renewal forms MONTHS in advanced BEFORE my actual renewal date in December 2018. Because my time for renewal was allegedly held for December, I have tried to upkeep on MY responsibility and do what they requested anyway online only to have the website not be able to accept my submission on the renewal date they wanted me to respond by BECAUSE MY TIME on benefits was supposed to not be effected yet. Because of this technical glitch, I was dropped. And that is what I find wrong in this city, more and more people and businesses relies on computers and other high tech gadgets to do the work for them that human beings are becoming more and more stupid and lazy, possibly "spoiled" to want to remember what an honest paycheck means in this desperate poor world.I am one in many families who does what she can for her family when times are rough and scary and blessed to know their is Welfare/assistance for families such as mine to help get us started with what I need for my children so they don't suffer. It's just a sad, crewel world that parents, guardians etc have to be treated like trash and judged like it's our fault we are unable to makes millions of dollars to provide for our children/ourselves. LISTEN, if there are so many people out there who are that damn miserable with their jobs to help people who don't have or lost their jobs, it would be nice to see more people admit and act on the idea of offering someone a job placement rather being a miserable old bat and making others feel worthless and helpless in today's society. AGAIN, if this city wasn't so damn poor, selfish, greedy etc, the vast majority of people wouldn't be flushed into having to apply for assistance if a miracle happened and raised the minimal pay wadge to $25 an hour just to stay above water and provide what you can without so much struggle with the ridiculous cost in taxes and fees with living expenses today. We see what the world is becoming through the eyes of people who supposedly have jobs to help others. Anyway, God Bless us all who are in this struggle to upkeep what we need to do because when children are involved, it's ALL ABOUT THEM in the first place.Lets hope our children can at least change the world for the better and making 'struggle' and...
Read moreSitting here listening to a supervisor talk to my family member like she is a total moron. Yes my cousin has mental health issues but that is no excuse to speak to someone like that. It wasnt the words it was the way they were spoken. I helped my cousin renew her food stamps and reapply for cash and medical late into the night. She missed turning in a paper stating she applied for social security...im confused as to why she even had to turn this in since someone stationed over there at the boulevard district has been following her SSI/SSD progress. The woman has been following my cousin since she applied for social security back in the summer of last year(2018). The woman has called to remind her about appointments with Social Security and even came to the apartment with Chrismas gifts. I am not sure the womans name but I am certain she is stationed out of and somehow internally connected to the Boulevard District Public Assistance office. Ms Gora Mamman, You work with the public. You are employed by the state of Pennsylvania Dept of Human Services/County Assistance office. Im sure that you have encountered more difficult clients than my upset cousin. Im also sure you have had training in sensitivity, mental health and diversity since you work with the public. Please try to apply some of the things you were taught. Some people need a little more assistance than others...most people just need a comforting word a direction to go in and reassurance. You had no compassion nor any kindness for a client whose account you had on your screen...that being said..you knew she has mental problems and you took advantage to speak to her the way you did. I just listened. I'd bet you woudnt have spoken down to half your other clients on the phone that way and for sure not like that in person. Now lets chalk this up to at 815am you were already having a miserable day and move forward. Try to do better..Discrimination in any form is unacceptable Always. Enjoy your weekend. Im sure your Monday will...
Read moreI rarely take the time to write reviews, but my experience at this office was unacceptable and needs to be addressed. From the moment I arrived, nearly everyone I encountered displayed a level of unprofessionalism that is deeply concerning, especially for a public service office that handles sensitive and important matters.
One of the security guards, a black female, began yelling disrespectfully about children needing to be with their parents. This was both unnecessary and confusing, considering the office has a designated library area clearly intended for children to read quietly, which is exactly where my children were. They were not misbehaving, making noise, or causing any disruption.
Then, the caseworker who came out not only lied to my face but also dismissed me entirely, telling me to leave simply because I knew what I was talking about and asked for a supervisor; I was told âthere is no supervisor in the building.â (Which is a lie, these offices are not ALLOWED to run unless a supervisor or manager is present). That level of arrogance and disrespect is inexcusable.
I must admit, had I not been in a rush to leave, I would have escalated the situation further, and these individuals would have had to answer for their behavior. They clearly have no idea who I am or the people Iâm connected to.
While I understand that this office employees deal with a range of challenging cases and individuals, (they are located right next to Frankford) that does not excuse treating every person who walks through the doors with contempt. I was not there to waste anyoneâs time and carried myself with the respect and composure they clearly lack.
This office needs to take a hard look at its staff and the way they treat the very people they are paid to serve. Public service should be rooted in dignity and professionalism, qualities that were severely lacking during my...
